The Rolling Stones “will not tour again,” according to fans who have given up hope of seeing the band back on stage.
Though frontman Mick Jagger is keen to get The Rolling Stones back on tour, fans are running out of patience and believe we have seen the last of the band on stage. While they may continue as a studio outfit, with an alleged follow-up to Foreign Tongues already in the can, fans believe hold-ups and scrapped tour plans for 2025 and 2026 point to only one outcome. Taking to the r/RollingStones subreddit, avid followers of the band discussed the chances of seeing the group back on stage. Many believe it is unlikely that Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood will find themselves back on the stage for multiple reasons, but some believe there is a clear reason for not getting back on the road.
A fan took to the subreddit and wrote: “It’s kind of obvious that The Rolling Stones will not tour again. You don’t release an album in July and say you might tour next year. Arthritis and ageing don’t improve or reverse. There could be a special show or appearance, but don’t count on that either.”
Another fan observed the sad reality of the band getting back on the road, citing Richards’ hesitation to go back on stage as perhaps the main issue for the group. They wrote: “Two aborted tours over two summers. I basically came to this conclusion when they didn’t do a tour in Europe for Hackney Diamonds in 2025. They had a lot of momentum coming out of the US tour in 2024 and a great album to tour behind and they just didn’t.
“When they ended plans for yet another tour in 2026, it was very clear that 2024 was more likely than not the last time. Oddly, it appears to be Keith. Mick seems ready to go on the road. Ronnie too. And yet finally, we have Keith saying no way. The guy who always loved the stage. I just hope it’s arthritis and age and not a more serious health issue.”
Another fan replied with a hopeful suggestion, adding: “Keith’s family just welcomed a great-grandchild this week. Given the rumoured tour was meant to be happening May through July – it’s very possible prioritising the family time and the new great grandchild was part of the reason Keith said no to a tour this year.”
Others believe it is finally time to come to terms with losing The Rolling Stones as a stage presence. One fan wrote: “The hard part for so many of us is we are finally getting to the point where we must face the realisation that behind the mythos of Keith Richards, there is a man. An amazing man who has given us everything, but a man, nonetheless.”
Another agreed, adding: “The whole idea of ‘we love to tour but not this year’ makes no sense.” A third wrote: “It makes sense when you’re 82 and realizing you can’t do what you love all the time physically. One bad physical exam or stumble means the whole tour can get paused indefinitely pending surgery or whatever. At this point, I can’t imagine them doing more than a small flurry of special shows at a time. Major touring is just foolish at this age. These guys ain’t buying green bananas.”
Some are still hopeful of a new tour from The Rolling Stones. One fan shared: “I truly hope they have one more tour left. But at their age you can’t plan too far ahead especially something that big with so many factors involved. They’ve made it this far though so I’ll give em the benefit of the doubt.”
Another added: “I tend to agree. But I do imagine a one-night stand here and there, a music festival, an award show, whatever. It’s not like them to say ‘this will be our last performance’, but if they did, it could be a massive event.”

The Rolling Stones have not toured since the end of 2024, where they performed a series of shows across North America to promote the release of their album, Hackney Diamonds.
