What Bob Dylan played during deep cuts-filled 17-song show at Unipol Arena on Lights of Autumn tour

Bob Dylan’s European and UK tour continued tonight in Bologna, Italy, with a staggering setlist.

The Lights of Autumn tour has seen Dylan and his band add the likes of High Water (for Charley Patton), Girl from the North Country, and Tangled Up in Blue back into the setlist. A show at the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno was packed with deep cuts and fan favourites which have featured during previous shows on the Lights of Autumn tour. Dylan has performed some songs for the first time in several years, while also adding Time Out of Mind deep cut Million Miles to his setlist. The song has been performed at almost every show on the tour this year, despite it hardly getting an outing since its release in 1997. Tonight marked the first appearance of Sugar Baby since 2012, with the Love and Theft song added to the setlist for tonight’s performance.

Dylan’s Lights of Autumn tour is set to continue across Europe and the UK later this month, with shows scheduled for Vienna, Stuttgart, and Sheffield.

A full setlist for Dylan’s show at the Unipol Arena can be found below.

  • Watching the River Flow
  • Love Sick
  • It Ain’t Me, Babe
  • Tryin’ to Get to Heaven
  • High Water (for Charley Patton)
  • I Can Tell (Bo Diddley cover)

  • When I Paint My Masterpiece
  • Not Dark Yet
  • I Can’t Seem to Say Goodbye (Jerry Lee Lewis cover)
  • False Prophet
  • Soon After Midnight
  • Million Miles
  • Under the Red Sky
  • Sugar Baby
  • Every Grain of Sand

Dylan has not performed Sugar Baby, the Love and Theft song, since 2012. He has performed it just 131 times live since 2001.

Dylan has continued to surprise on the Lights of Autumn tour, with heavily reworked instrumentals on Tryin’ to Get to Heaven and lyrical revisions for Blood on the Tracks classic, Tangled Up in Blue. Rough and Rowdy Ways songs which dominated Dylan’s set for the last five years have been dropped, seemingly in favour of Time Out of Mind songs like Tryin’ to Get to Heaven and Million Miles.

Also featured is Love and Theft song High Water (for Charley Patton), which made a surprise return to Dylan’s setlist on this tour. It marks the first tour he has performed the song on since his shows back in 2018.

Dylan has been changing his setlist slightly from show to show, with the likes of Blind Willie McTell, Tangled Up in Blue, Girl From the North Country, and Spirit on the Water debuting this year. Dylan will play further dates in Belgium (which Cult Following will be covering), Switzerland, and the United Kingdom (also covered by Cult Following).

Fans would have to cast their mind back a little for the last rendition of Girl from the North Country, a classic from Dylan’s discography. The song’s performance tonight is the first since Dylan performed at The Anthem in Washington D.C. back in December 2019. The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan cut would feature as a Johnny Cash collaboration on Dylan’s Nashville Skyline album in 1969. Dylan has performed the song 590 times since 1963.

Every Grain of Sand will be a familiar inclusion for those who have caught Dylan’s recent Rough and Rowdy Ways tour and this current Lights of Autumn run. Dylan has performed the song 291 times over the last five years, with 39 of those performances from the 2026 tour.
