While he once promised to keep performing “until the wheels come off,” Bruce Springsteen has doubled down on remaining an on-stage presence.
It means that fans can expect Springsteen and The E Street Band to continue performing their mammoth, hits-filled shows across the globe. But it also means that there’s no date for a definite goodbye, and that one of these shows in the next few years will almost definitely be the last. Springsteen was asked about whether there’s a chance The E Street Band could formally and officially bow out of touring, but he has confirmed there is no such plan, nor will there ever be.
Speaking to PBS News earlier this year, Springsteen said that the band will tour indefinitely, and at no point would they ever consider marketing a tour as a collection of “farewell” shows. The Boss explained: “It’s just my job, and it’s my pleasure. I don’t even think about stopping. If you created a body of work that’s resonant, I don’t see any immediate reason to — there’s never going to be an E Street farewell tour, I can tell you that.”
Fans are already speculating on whether Springsteen and the band will be back on the road next year. Springsteen has previously teased he has material ready to release, but has not confirmed whether this is a solo album or a collaboration with The E Street Band.
Speculative fans think the Thunder Road hitmaker will not take all that long of a break from touring. Springsteen appeared at a benefit concert in October alongside Joan Baez, and now fans have started placing their bets on when the legendary rocker will be back on a tour of his own.
Some have suggested that The Boss will take to the stage as early as next year for a European leg of the Land of Hope and Dreams tour. Springsteen had already performed across Europe and the United Kingdom as part of the Land of Hope and Dreams tour, but it appears he could be gearing up for more shows. Springsteen last performed in the UK in 2025, and focused on touring North America in 2026.
One fan took to the r/BruceSpringsteen subreddit and wrote: “Can we all start speculating on what’s next now? Title says it all! The 2026 US Tour has concluded, so what’s next in line for us? I’d dare to say a 2027 European Tour cause there ain’t no way they are slowing down. Perhaps, an Only The Strong Survive Vol. 3/Tracks III too?”
Fans believe the possibility of touring all depends on the health of Springsteen’s wife, Patti Sciaffi. One fan wrote: “Honestly, I think it all starts and ends with how Patti is feeling. She didn’t play one show on this tour, I believe. And it is for that reason I think Bruce is going to be Stateside for the foreseeable future with nothing overseas.
“He already has some events on the calendar with Little Steven and Tom Morello, and the Springsteen Center is new. I could see an album or two dropping. I’d imagine he’ll be vocal at the midterms. If I had to guess/wishful thinking? A band tour Sept, October, Nov just like this one leading up to the midterms/get out the vote. Or maybe it’s another March/April/May string next year.”
