Bonnie Tyler covered Bryan Adams, Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Kiss on last show before death

Bonnie Tyler covered the likes of Bryan Adams, KISS, and Creedence Clearwater Revival on her final performance. The Total Eclipse of the Heart and Holding Out for a Hero hitmaker died in hospital, her team confirmed earlier today (July 9). The 75-year-old had been recovering from an induced coma in Faro, Portugal. Tyler’s death comes as a surprise to her family and fans, with a statement appearing on her website confirming the death.

The statement reads: “Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for. We will issue a further statement shortly but for now ask for privacy to deal with this tragedy.”

Tyler performed her final show at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, England, on March 19, 2026. Her show featured hits from her discography as well as covers of The Bee Gees and Carrie Underwood. A full setlist for the show can be found below.

The show would mark the only performance of Tyler’s recently released single, Only Love. The song was released on March 21.

Tyler was rushed to a hospital in Faro, Portugal, for emergency intestinal surgery and placed in an induced coma to aid her recovery in May of this year, BBC News reported. A spokesperson confirmed last month that she was out of the coma but remained in intensive care. At the time, they said her condition was improving and doctors were “confident” she would recover though progress was “slow”.

A spokesperson for Prime Minister Keir Starmer paid tribute to Tyler earlier today. The statement reads: “The prime minister is indeed saddened to hear about the death of Bonnie Tyler, one of Britain’s greatest recording artists,” a Downing Street spokesman says.

“An iconic figure, she leaves behind a catalogue of music – from Total Eclipse of the Heart, to Holding Out for a Hero – which continues to touch lives, flood dance floors and fill karaoke booths. The prime minister’s thoughts are very much with her friends and family.”

Singer Cliff Richard added: “Bonnie’s infectious zest for life entertained so many around the world. It’s shocking news to wake up to you this morning and I send my love to her family at this very sad time.”
