Paul McCartney fans split on whether new The Boys of Dungeon Lane single will release

Paul McCartney fans were left to wonder whether the veteran songwriter would put out another single before The Boys of Dungeon Lane releases.

The Beatles and Wings member will release The Boys of Dungeon Lane on May 29, with lead single, Days We Left Behind, released in late March. Whether a new song comes out before the release of McCartney‘s latest solo album is yet to be seen, but fans remain hopeful of another tease before the end of the month. Fans took to the r/PaulMcCartney subreddit and shared their thoughts on whether or not a new single is on the way. McCartney recently shared a full tracklisting to his Instagram, noting one song, Never Know, would be marked as explicit. A fan asked on the forum: “Do you think Paul will release another single before the album is out? I loved Dyas We Left Beind but I need more! Now!”

Fans are split on whether McCartney will release further material ahead of a full album release. One wrote: “Yes, most likely, but it’ll probably be in a week or two. If not by then, then he’s probably going to just wait for the whole album to come out. The Rolling Stones have been teasing their album forever now, so hopefully we get a release from them soon, and Paul might have been waiting for Ringo’s album to release before he releases a new single to keep hype from clashing.”

Another added: “I don’t think so, but it’s possible. He’s released multiple singles, zero singles and one single before an album for his three previous albums.”

A third shared: “I think we will definitely get a second single before release given his past releases and just the nature of the modern release cycle. It’s the only way to build hype. It’s almost guaranteed. A third single is less likely though for him.”

Others have pointed to a McCartney appearance in the United States that could lead to the release of a second single from The Boys of Dungeon Lane. They wrote: “Probably, but these things are all mapped out in detail. Ringo is having his moment right now. I imagine as we get into May and Paul is on SNL etc the album promo will have accelerated into full bloom.”

Another added: “A few of the songs would definitely work as singles! There’s some rockers on there, or it could another nostalgic or softer song. Home to Us would be a good single, as would As You Lie There, Lost Horizon, or Come Inside.”

A third wrote: “Possibly. We know the album was delayed because the label needed to figure out marketing. I imagine if there isn’t a single, they’ll still find other ways to promote the album.”
