Sex Pistols confirm ‘three new albums’ as legendary US concert dates set for release

Sex Pistols will release three new albums this year, with gigs from their legendary 1978 US tour.

The tour saw the final gigs from the Johnny Rotten-led band until their reunion in 1996. Three shows from the tour, immortalised by Rotten’s final words as frontman of the ‘Pistols, will be printed on vinyl and also available as digital downloads. “Ever get the feeling you’ve been cheated? Good night,” were the last words Rotten spoke as frontman of the group until their reformation over a decade later.

Three shows from the 1978 US tour will be released later this year. Those shows can be found below.

• Great South East Music Hall, Atlanta
• Longhorns Ballroom, Dallas
• Winterland Ballroom, San Francisco

Fans can now judge for themselves the legendary tour which saw the Sex Pistols break up less than a year after the release of their monumental Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols album.

John Rotten (aka Lydon), Paul Cook, Steve Jones and Sid Vicious’ strained relationships will be printed for all to hear on the three vinyls, which can also be purchased in CD or digital form. Newly mastered recordings of the three gigs will be available over the next three months. 

A red vinyl release of the Atlanta gig is expected on February 28, a white edition of the Dallas show on March 28, and a blue release of their San Francisco performance on April 25.

It comes as Sex Pistols feat. Frank Carter continues to tour this year, with dates confirmed for Birmingham’s Villa Park and London’s Wembley Stadium in support of Guns ‘n’ Roses. The group, which will see Carter on vocal duties along with a reformed Paul Cook, Steve Jones, and bassist Glen Matlock, played festival dates across 2024.

Johnny Rotten is also set to continue touring into 2025 with PiL confirming new dates for the year. Their tour continues after the release of 2023’s End of World, which saw the band compete to represent Ireland at Eurovision with their song, Hawaii.
