Bob Dylan has been praised by gig-goers for his most recent show on the Long Hot Summer tour. The veteran songwriter has made more than a few changes to his on-stage personnel in the last month and has also been praised by fans for changing up some of his best songs. Dylan will perform across Europe later this year and seems to have settled on a line-up before he embarks on the 30-date tour.
Both Bob Britt and Doug Lancio are out, with Joel Paterson and Jad Tariq drafted in on a seemingly permanent basis. Julian Lage also featured in a handful of shows but had prior commitments which meant he dropped out of touring duties shortly after he was drafted in. He has since returned to the line-up. Dylan and the band’s show at the BankNH Pavilion in Gilford, New Hampshire, has been hailed by attendees for the special versions of some of Dylan’s setlist features.

Fans have since taken to the Bob Dylan subreddit and shared their thoughts on the show from last night (July 18). One person wrote: “Really enjoyed the set and new arrangements! The guitars work really well and seem to have invigorated some of the songs (and Bob). I Shall Be Released was exceptional.”
Another added: “A great show! Joel Paterson and Julian Lage on guitar are outstanding – confident, not tentative at all, riding on Tony Garnier and Anton Fig rhythm, really locked in- solid beat, Bob in place between them. An almost semi-circle stage set-up, Basement Tapes style and the playing has power, delicacy and precision.
“Bob in fabulous vocal capability. A wonderful set. Appreciative audience for the most part (in the shed) though some confused folks, as well as endless restlessness; people go back & forth from their seats, forcing the whole row to have to stand up to let them in & out… my only petty annoyance. The sound was excellent too.”
It comes as Dylan confirmed details of a 30-date European tour, which will feature his first performances at the Royal Festival Hall since 1964. A full list of tour dates can be found below. Tickets for all shows go on sale July 22.
