Liam Gallagher shares the one Oasis song he hates: ‘I can’t fucking stand that’

Despite writing some of the most popular songs of all time, it appears even Liam Gallagher can’t stand some of Oasis‘ music.

The frontman worked with brother Noel Gallagher, as well as the likes of Bonehead and Zak Starkey, from 1991 to 2009, and one song the group released makes him “want to chin someone” whenever it’s brought up. Despite Gallagher airing his hate for Wonderwall, the song featured in every show of the band’s Live ’25 reunion tour and will likely be a fixture for their upcoming dates in 2027. Quotes from an interview Gallagher gave around the release of Dig Out Your Soul, Oasis’ last studio album, have resurfaced on social media platforms.

In the interview, Gallagher praised Dig Out Your Soul for not featuring a song like Wonderwall, saying he “can’t fucking stand” the band’s best-known hit. He said: “At least there’s no Wonderwall on there. I can’t fucking stand that fucking song. Every time I have to sing it I want to gag. Problem is, it was a big, big tune for us.

“You go to America and they’re like: ‘Are you Mr Wonderwall?’ You want to chin someone.” It is currently unclear whether Gallagher wants to gag every time he performs Wonderwall. Oasis will return to the stage at Celtic Park on May 21, 2027, after having performed a series of shows across the world in 2025.

Their last setlist, which saw the band perform at the MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil, featured 23 songs, with Wonderwall the penultimate song performed by the band. A full setlist for the group’s most recent show can be found below.

The Dig Out Your Soul tour would put an end to Oasis as a band for 16 years, but Noel Gallagher believes that just six months would’ve made the difference and kept the band together. Gallagher said: “All that being said, we had two gigs left and I reckon if I’d had got to the end of that tour and I’d had six months off I would have just forgotten about it, got on with it. But the straw that broke the camel’s back was the night in Paris and that was a fight. There’s no hidden darkness.”

The clarity of the fight being the reason for Oasis breaking up was elaborated on by Gallagher, who said an “unnecessary act of violence” had sparked a massive blowout. He said: “He goes out the dressing room, for whatever reason, he went to his own dressing room, and he came back with a guitar, and he started wielding it like an axe, and I’m not fucking kidding.

“And I’m making light of it because it’s kind of what I do, but it was a real unnecessary violent act, and he’s swinging this guitar around; he nearly took my face off with it. And it ended up on the floor, and I put it out of its misery.

“And then I said, ‘Well look, I mean, there were people who were in the band, looking the other way; it wasn’t even a big dressing room. And I was like, you know what? I’m fucking out of here. And at that point, someone came in and said five minutes!… I kind of got in the car, and I sat there for five minutes, and I just said fuck it, I can’t do it anymore.”
