Roger Daltrey criticised for farewell tour ticket pricing as The Who frontman contemplates retirement

The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has been criticised by fans for the price of his alleged farewell tour.

Daltrey has hinted that his upcoming North American tour may be his last. His solo tour follows after The Who bowed out of live performances on what could be their final farewell tour. Their 1982 tour was billed as a string of farewell shows, but the band soon reformed and were back on stage just a few years later. The Who then retired from the stage on their 2025 tour. Daltrey now appears ready to wrap up his own time on stage, suggesting that his upcoming tour would be his last.

The veteran performer said when announcing the tour: “After finishing The Who’s final tour of the US, it’s time for me as a solo artist to possibly do the same. After touring solo with different bands of musicians for the last 17 years, a less gruelling life becomes more attractive, I’ll see.”

Fans who were hoping to purchase tickets to Daltrey’s final tour were shocked to see how high the ticket prices went. A post to the r/TheWho subreddit spotted prices of up to $700. One fan who screenshot the seating map for the upcoming shows wrote: “Daltrey solo tour pricing – Presale: $94-$736.

“This is for the Ryman in Nashville – I get it’s a smaller venue, but it seems steep considering I paid a little more for The Who last year. Wondering how everyone thinks this tour will go sales-wise?”

Other fans were left floored by the cost, with some asking what they received for the most expensive ticket to the show. One joked: “For $736, do you get to have a pre-show dinner with him, and help build the set list?” Another added: “Can’t do it and I love the guy… I’ll stick with my memories.”

Some believed the pricing at other dates on the tour was much more reasonable than the Nashville date, while others jumped to the defence of Daltrey. One wrote: “Any tours booked after March-ish are just going to be exponentially higher than anything booked before. It’s going to be a real dividing line with pricing and might make even more tours succumb to blue dot fever.”

Another added: “At the show in Springfield, MA, I thought the tickets were quite reasonable. Besides the VIP ripoff tickets, prices ranged from $64 to $84.” The original poster replied: “It might just be the Ryman then. Historic venue, but boy are the seats uncomfortable and small, and views are hit or miss.”

A third noted: “That’s the pricing across all artists…and includes tickets to the Expo as well. So maybe there is a contracted limit?” Despite the pricing, fans remain excited to see Daltrey on what could be his last-ever tour.
