The Rolling Stones ‘tired of touring’ according to fans hoping for Foreign Tongues shows

Fans of legendary rock band The Rolling Stones remain hopeful that the upcoming album, Foreign Tongues, will receive a tour to promote it.

The Mick Jagger-fronted group have not announced any plans to tour Foreign Tongues. The Rolling Stones were rumoured to be touring through 2025, but the alleged series of shows never came to pass. Whether the band gets back on the road to promote their first album since 2023’s Hackney Diamonds is yet to be seen, but some fans aren’t getting their hopes up. A post to the r/RollingStones subreddit reads: “They have to go on the road to promote the new album, right? Just like the old days.” Some were unconvinced by the band getting back on the road, with some suggesting it may be the end of the line for The Rolling Stones.

One fan wrote: “I think 2024 was the end of touring in a traditional sense. I could see a few shows here and there, but I think it’s unlikely.” Another added: “I doubt they ever tour again, wouldn’t be surprised with a residency or two, The O2, Madison Square Garden, and The Sphere being the likely sites.”

A third wrote: “I don’t think so, Keith is having arthritis issues, and to be honest, looking at the 2024 shows, they seem to be getting tired of touring, they’re getting up [in age], and they have nothing left to prove. I think they just wanna put out an album for the sake of making music.”

Others were satisfied with the promise of new material, with Foreign Tongues set for a July release. One fan wrote: “I’m in the serious minority of lifelong fans who just want the band to live out their best days releasing music, new and from the vaults.”

Another agreed, replying: “Same., I mean, sixty-plus years. What more can you ask for?” A third still remains hopeful, and that it all depends on whether Richards is up for touring.

They wrote: “My guess from what I’ve heard Mick say years ago, and how it works with other big bands, is that prepping for shows is a big deal. Even great bands need time to rehearse so that the first live show sounds great. Even The Rolling Stones need to prep, and it doesn’t matter that they’ve been playing lots of songs for decades.

“And with all that effort and prep work and promotional stuff means you’re turning on a big machine that’s not worth it for just a few shows. The “machine” needs a big tour, and Keith can’t or won’t do it right now.”

Others have said they would be happy if the band never toured again, but would jump at the chance to see them. “I’m good if they never tour again,” one fan wrote. “I’ve seen them several times. But I would not miss it if I had an opportunity to see them again.”
