What Paul McCartney played during Tulsa performance on Got Back tour

A performance in Tulsa had veteran songwriter Paul McCartney dedicate a song to his wife in a thirty-five-track set.

The Got Back tour has changed very little since the start of the US leg of the tour, though The Beatles member and Wings frontman has made some small changes. Help! and Coming Up were added to the main set, with both songs absent on the preceding European and UK tour. But the veteran performer has made the most of his setlist on the US leg, which is set to conclude later next month, and featured many of his greatest hits. Pieces from his solo discography, as well as The Beatles and Wings’ back catalogue, have featured in the show, which has not changed too much since the Got Back tour last year. McCartney’s setlist at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, featured hits like Drive My Car and Let ‘Em In, and also a dedication to Nancy Shevell, who was in the crowd.

Whether McCartney makes any changes to his setlist later on the tour is yet to be seen, but the veteran performer will be touring across the US until late November. The massive setlist and Got Back tour comes as McCartney confirms details of a “lovingly curated time capsule” compilation album representing Wings’ decade of music. The album, WINGS, will be released in several formats, including a 1LP and 2CD set on November 7.

McCartney personally curated the song selection, which features classics from Band on the Run and deep cut hits like Arrow Through Me from Back to the Egg. A 3LP set will also be released, which features a hardback slipcase designed by McCartney and Aubrey Powell.

The three-LP set features thirty-two songs from Wings’ back catalogue, including deep cuts like Helen Wheels and Deliver Your Children. The announcement comes as a book on the band is set for release later this year.

A product description for the 3LP Wings collection reads: “WINGS  is the ultimate anthology of the band that defined the sound of the 1970s. A lovingly curated time capsule of imagery and music personally overseen by Paul McCartney, WINGS  includes thirty-two timeless international hits, including Band on the Run, Live and Let Die, Jet and Let ‘Em In – songs that still feature in his live shows to this day.

“Presented in a hardback slipcase, the 3LP 180g vinyl collection was designed by Paul and Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell of Hipgnosis. The expanded booklet also includes an introduction by Paul plus extensive album-by-album notes on the iconic artwork written by Po, with additional editorial by Pete Paphides and showcases original portraits of the band by Humphrey Ocean. In addition to the booklet, the 3LP set includes a poster.”
