Radiohead issues advice to fans who did not receive code with confirmation deadline for ticket sales tomorrow

Fans who signed up but did not receive registration confirmation may still have a chance of seeing Radiohead.

Though the band made it clear that those who wanted to purchase a ticket to one of their twenty shows this November and December, several fans say they received no confirmation despite signing up. Successful registrations were confirmed through both a text code and email confirmation ahead of the sale on September 12. Those without codes, as seen on the r/Radiohead subreddit, may be in luck with tickets. One of many people who did not receive their code asked what the chances were of purchasing tickets without the use of the code. While it may be unlikely that tickets are leftover after the initial sale on Friday, there is a chance of securing tickets after this date.

Information released by Radiohead following the closure of the registration process has confirmed that fans are still in with a chance of purchasing a ticket. Guidance on what to do without a code is clear. It reads: “If you do not receive an unlock code by 22:00 BST/23:00 CEST on Wednesday, September 10, you will not be able to participate in the initial ticket sale on Friday, September 12.

“However, you will automatically be placed on a waitlist for further ticket sales. If tickets remain unsold for any of the cities you selected during registration, you may receive an email with an unlock code and at least 24 hours’ notice to purchase them.”

Fans are now hoping those wanting just two or three tickets can buddy up and buy the full four. One fan posted to the r/Radiohead subreddit: “I unfortunately was not able to register for a code despite living in England (it just didn’t come through to either mine or my girlfriend’s SMS).

“I was wondering if there was anyone who registered successfully who is only looking to get 2 tickets max for London? As the purchase limit is four, I was wondering if anyone would be able to grab all 4 (standing or seated) if they got through to buy tickets. I’ll buy you a couple of drinks at the venue on the day as a thank you!”

Those who purchase tickets and find they are no longer able to go must use the same facility offering the tickets. The Radiohead website reads: “The only way to sell or transfer tickets will be through the transfer and face value resale facility offered by the official ticketing platform – please check with them for details.

“The ticket transfer and resale facility will not be available to use until closer to the time of the show. Some venues will be checking your ID against the name on the ticket.” It comes as some fans vented their frustrations at the ticketing registration process, which has been put in place to limit the number of scalpers buying up tickets.

Radiohead explained: “These days, buying tickets first-come first-served can mean you’re competing in a queue filled with bots and ticket touts who have an unfair advantage. The registration is in place to verify that you are who you say you are, and so we can do the best possible to make the ticket-buying process a little fairer for fans.”

Fans who missed out on the now-closed registration process have no chance of registering for the initial sale, either. The guidance reads: “It makes no difference at what time you register your details, but once the registration form is closed, there will be no further opportunity to register to buy tickets to the shows.”
