Fans of the new wave band Devo are still hoping for an official release of their (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction cover.
Whether or not this particular cover of The Rolling Stones‘ classic is released is yet to be seen, but listeners are holding out hope. Devo’s cover of the hit track has been shared on YouTube, and fans are thrilled. The performance from 1977 is a slightly slower version of the one featured in their live shows throughout 1978. But it’s a cover which has seen fans call on it to be released on streaming services, or even as a single. It may be unlikely, but fans are hoping to hear Devo’s (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction in a better quality and on a different platform.
One listener wrote: “Damn, I dig this version. They should release it. I’ve been a fan of Devo since the start, and never heard this before. Love it!” Another added: “Captain Beefheart, Devo, The Stranglers … pure geniuses that shared a lot of their inventiveness and rawness.” A third called the song “simply genius,” a feeling shared by other users.
One went as far as to call Devo’s interpretation of the hit track “revolutionary”. Another added: “I wish they did a studio version at this speed. It sounds so clanky and exhausted while still being interesting. The anthem of being done with the world’s shit.”
Devo has performed the song live a total of 379 times, with their most recent in an appearance on the Project Pabst line-up. A full setlist from their show can be found below.

A version of Devo’s (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction is available on their Devo Live compilation, which is currently available on Spotify. Whether the specific version praised by fans ever receives a release is yet to be seen, though it remains unlikely. A live album version with over fifteen million streams on Spotify is available.
That version is, as one user described in the comments of the video below, a “down tempo and less syncopated” version than the one currently available. The difference in live recordings has been noted by fans, who want the (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction cover from this video, rather than the version featured on Devo Live.
“Adore this version,” one fan wrote. Another shared: “I like the intro to this version better.” A third disagreed, though, and suggested the latest version of The Rolling Stones’ hit is much superior. They shared: “I don’t care for this version as much as the later version, but really glad I saw it. Very raw. Video shot from a great audience perspective. Thanks for sharing.”
