What Pulp played during intimate BBC Session as More songs played alongside track last performed at Bridlington

Pulp’s performance at BBC Radio Theatre has seen the band debut new songs from their upcoming album, More.

The Jarvis Cocker-fronted band also played a song which they had not performed since their first show of the Encore reunion. Their return to the stage at Bridlington Spa in 2023 saw the band showcase a series of their greatest hits from His ‘n’ Hers, Different Class, This is Hardcore, and We Love Life. Pulp‘s first UK performance of 2025 featured classics like Disco 2000, Common People, and Do You Remember the First Time?, but also featured some deep cuts which had not featured in the setlist since the first show of the second encore.

The group’s performance at BBC Radio Theatre was confirmed a few days after the debut of the band’s new song, Spike Island. Their first single since 2013’s After You opened the set in London tonight (May 7), and was featured alongside four other songs from the band’s upcoming eighth album, More. A full setlist can be found below.

  • Spike Island
  • Something Changed
  • Tina
  • Grown Ups
  • Dishes
  • Sorted for E’s & Wizz
  • Disco 2000
  • Got to Have Love
  • Do You Remember the First Time?
  • Farmers Market

The BBC Radio Theatre performance comes just a month before the band kicks off their UK and Ireland tour, with Pulp’s headline performance at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow set for June 7. It will be followed by dates in Dublin, London, Birmingham, and Manchester, before the band heads across Europe and the United States for the rest of the tour.

Pulp confirmed they would release their first album in twenty-four years, More, on June 6. A statement from the band reads: “This is the first Pulp album since We Love Life in 2001. Yes. The first Pulp album in twenty-four years. How did that happen?

“Well, when we started touring again in 2023 we practiced a new song called Hymn of the North during soundcheck and eventually played it at the end of our second night at Hammersmith Odeon. This seemed to open the floodgates. We came up with the rest of the songs on this album during the first half of 2024.

“A couple are revivals of ideas from last century. The music for one song was written by Richard Hawley. The music for another was written by Jason Buckle. The Eno family sing backing vocals on a song. There are string arrangements written by Richard Jones and played by the Elysian Collective.

“The album was recorded over three weeks by James Ford in Walthamstow, London, starting on November 18, 2024. This is the shortest amount of time a Pulp album has ever taken to record. It was obviously ready to happen. These are the facts.

“We hope you enjoy the music. It was written and performed by four human beings from the North of England, aided and abetted by five other human beings from various locations in the British Isles. No A.I. was involved during the process. This album is dedicated to Steve Mackey. This is the best that we can do. Thanks for listening.”
