Keith Richards’ solo albums praised by fans as they ask for ‘unreleased’ material

Fans of the solo works of Keith Richards are hoping to hear the “unreleased” material from the studio sessions.

The Rolling Stones‘ guitarist has released three solo albums to date, and a deluxe edition release of Main Offender has some hoping for further deep cuts and archival releases. A post to the r/RollingStones subreddit had fans share their hopes, with one suggesting there could be more to come. A post praising the album reads: “Awesome album! I haven’t listened to that many solo Rolling Stones albums but this is definitely my favourite so far.” The user went on to share some of their favourite songs, including Eileen, Words of Wonder, and Wicked As It Seems.

Some are hopeful that there are more solo releases from Richards to come, and would even settle for archival releases, which may still be available. Richards made some of those deep cut tapes available on two EP releases in 2021, Blues and Ballads, though there are hopes of further pieces.

One user wrote: “Great album. I wish they put some unreleased or alternative tracks on the rerelease.” Another suggested there could be more from the double bill of early solo releases, as fans pointed to the EP collections which featured both alternate versions and leftovers from the studio.

They wrote: “I prefer Main Offender because it has more ballads and more versatility in genres, but I love Talk Is Cheap.” Another added: “Main Offender and X-Eyed Heart are better than any Rolling Stones releases since Tattoo You.”

A live album which featured Richards play with his band, The Winos, was tipped off by one user who suggested it provided an extension of the solo albums. Those in need of more material from Richards’ solo career were told to look no further than a Hollywood Palladium live album.

One user wrote: “The Hollywood Palladium Live album with the Winos is probably my favorite Keith Richards solo album. Wonderful sound, everyone in the pocket, and some amazing covers of Locked Away or Too Rude. There is no bad Keith solo album. Main Offender sounds great and has great songs.”

Fans are still full of praise for Richards’ solo efforts, with one suggesting they love the production more than anything. They wrote: “Love the drum sound and the natural reverb, especially Wicked as it Seems intro. Awesome production.”

Main Offender, Richards’ second studio album, was released in 1992. He recorded it during the Steel Wheels and Voodoo Lounge projects from The Rolling Stones.
