Bob Dylan plays Freewheelin’ hit and Modern Times deep cut during 18-song show in Sweden

Bob Dylan is back on the road for his 2026 European leg, with a show tonight (October 19) featuring Girl from the North Country and Spirit on the Water.

The veteran songwriter made changes to Tangled Up in Blue at his kick-off show in Oslo earlier this week, while also covering the Randy Newman song Louisiana for the first time. Fans anticipating further changes were in luck as Dylan also performed Crash on the Levee for the first time since 2005 during his show at the Spektrum on October 17. Dylan has since performed his second EU and UK tour show, with his performance at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden, featuring songs from Rough and Rowdy Ways, Under the Red Sky, and Another Side of Bob Dylan.

A full setlist for Dylan’s show at the Scandinavium can be found below.

The Scandinavium show marks the first time appearances of Girl from the North Country, Spirit on the Water, and Every Grain of Sand on the EU/UK tour. Dylan has rarely performed Spirit on the Water, a song from Modern Times, since 2018. He last performed the song twice in 2024, and before then it had last made an appearance on stage in 2018.

Fans would have to cast their mind back a little for the last rendition of Girl from the North Country, a classic from Dylan’s discography. The song’s performance tonight is the first since Dylan performed at The Anthem in Washington D.C. back in December 2019. The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan cut would feature as a Johnny Cash collaboration on Dylan’s Nashville Skyline album in 1969. Dylan has performed the song 590 times since 1963.

Every Grain of Sand will be a familiar inclusion for those who have caught Dylan’s recent Rough and Rowdy Ways tour and this current Lights of Autumn run. Dylan has performed the song 291 times over the last five years, with 39 of those performances from the 2026 tour.

Dylan’s run of European shows will continue on October 21 with a performance at the Forum Horsens in Denmark. Further dates will see Dylan perform in Belgium, the United Kingdom, and Germany. A setlist for Dylan’s show at the Oslo Spektrum, which kicked off the European tour, can be found below.
