Bob Dylan has been hailed for his second-to-last performance on the Long Hot Summer tour of North America. The veteran performer will take a short break after his performance today (August 1) before embarking on a 30-date European tour. Dylan has been on the road for much of this year, with attendees praising the singer for his staggering quality as a live performer.
Dylan performed songs from Tempest, Time Out of Mind, and Rough and Rowdy Ways. It is likely that a similar setlist will be used for the European shows, though it remains to be seen. Dylan had delighted fans with a few rarities, including a performance of Baby, Won’t You Be My Baby for the first time ever.

One attendee who saw Dylan’s penultimate North America 2026 show took to X and shared their thoughts on the performance. They wrote: “I don’t know if it’s been the best concert I’ve ever seen Dylan give, because I’m still processing it. But I have no doubt that it’s among the most remarkable performances I remember from him, and that’s saying something given that the repertoire on this tour is one of the toughest he’s done lately.”
Guitarists Joel Paterson and Julian Lage, who were drafted in to replace the outgoing Bob Britt and Doug Lancio, were seemingly having a brilliant time on-stage too. The attendee went on to write: “Special mention deserves the incorporation of guitarists Julian Lage and Joel Paterson. They’ve only been in Dylan’s band for a month, but it seems like they’ve been there their whole lives. Lage smiled permanently, like someone who’s having the time of his life.
“Because he is one of the best young guitarists in the world, and suddenly he’s found himself taking on such a motivating challenge as it must be to accompany Dylan every night.” It is not clear yet whether Lage and Paterson will join Dylan for the European tour, with Jad Tariq also part of the line-up for a few of the summer shows.
