What Bob Dylan played on summer tour last night with one song permanently dropped from set

Bob Dylan has made a minor change to his setlist on the summer tour as he drops a cover song seemingly for good.

The veteran songwriter has been on the road since March of this year and shows no signs of stopping as he continues performing across North America. Dylan has swapped out a handful of songs on his setlist in recent weeks, with I Shall Be Released and Baby, Won’t You Be My Baby both included in his first post-Rough and Rowdy Ways tour schedule. The shows have still featured songs from his most recent studio album but the focus has been on classic tracks from Time Out of Mind, John Wesley Harding, and Oh Mercy. Dylan had also featured four cover songs on most of the summer dates. One track has since been dropped and seemingly for good, as its last appearance was during a show at the Santa Barbara Bowl concert on June 17. Dylan is yet to add the Eddie Cochran song, Nervous Breakdown, back to his set.

The show last night at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park in San Diego, California, is also the first since June 18 to not feature guitarist Julian Lage. The jazz expert appeared as a special guest for two shows and has since left the touring line-up.

A full setlist for Dylan’s show at The Rady Shell can be found below.

  • To Be Alone With You
  • Man in the Long Black Coat
  • All Along the Watchtower
  • Tryin’ to Get to Heaven
  • False Prophet
  • I Can Tell (Bo Diddley cover)
  • Black Rider
  • Share Your Love With Me (Bobby Bland cover)
  • When I Paint My Masterpiece
  • I’ll Make It All Up to You (Jerry Lee Lewis cover)
  • Crossing the Rubicon
  • Soon After Midnight
  • Under the Red Sky
  • I’ve Made Up My Mind to Give Myself to You
  • Goodbye Jimmy Reed
  • Every Grain of Sand

Dylan’s latest show featured five songs from Rough and Rowdy Ways and a single track from several of his albums. The Rady Shell performance included songs from Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits, Vol. II, John Wesley Harding, Nashville Skyline, Oh Mercy, Shot of Love, Tempest, Time Out of Mind, and Under the Red Sky.

The Summer 2026 tour has seen Dylan perform across California following on from his hugely successful Spring 2026 shows. Last year, Dylan joined Willie Nelson and Billy Strings for a series of performances on the Outlaw Music Festival tour. There, he performed the likes of Love Sick, Mr. Tambourine Man, and Masters of War.

Some of the songs featured in this year’s summer setlist had never been performed by Dylan before. He added The Basement Tapes bootleg track Baby, Won’t You Be My Baby to hit set for the first time. I Shall Be Released also returned to the stage for the first time in 18 years.
