The Black Crowes confirm new studio album, A Pound of Feathers, for March release

The Black Crowes has confirmed they will release new album, A Pound of Feathers, on March 13.

The Grammy-nominated duo released Happiness Bastards in 2024, fourteen years after their previous studio album, Croweology. The Black Crowes have since confirmed the record will be released later this year, and that they recorded it in just “eight to ten” days. Chris Robinson said: “We made this record in eight to ten days. Bringing the high and inspiration from Happiness Bastards into this album, it was a natural progression. We experimented more, we wrote on instinct and how we were feeling in the moment. Rich brought a spontaneity to the record that I can’t describe, but it’s the best shit he’s ever done.”

Rich Robinson added: “This album feels transformative to us. Going back to our roots, we felt that spark in the studio and how we work together. Lighting a fire that hits harder, more jagged but is still true to our musical essence.”

The brothers also shared two new songs from the album, with Profane Prophecy and Pharmacy Chronicles out now. A full tracklist for the band’s upcoming album, A Pound of Feathers, can be found below.

  • Profane Prophecy
  • Cruel Streak
  • Pharmacy Chronicles
  • Do The Parasite!
  • High and Lonesome
  • Queen of the B-Sides
  • It’s Like That
  • Blood Red Regrets
  • You Call This a Good Time
  • Eros Blues
  • Doomsday Doggerel

The Black Crowes were witness to a staggering moment in music history, where Bob Dylan “flipped off” The Rolling Stones in front of 60,000 people. Robinson, speaking to Stern on the show back in 2019, said: “The Black Crowes, Bob Dylan, and The Rolling Stones.

“We’re behind Keith’s amps and The Stones had Like a Rolling Stone as their single in Europe for that tour, the Voodoo Lounge cycle, so they’re going to have Bob sit in. Bob comes walking right beside me and Rich, and he’s wearing the exact same outfit [as Mick Jagger]. He walks out on stage, and The Rolling Stones are The Rolling Stones, they’re the greatest rock band of all time.

“They’re playing a Bob Dylan song, Bob is sitting in. The ‘Stones don’t jam, they don’t deviate. They come up to Bob’s turn, so the band bigs it up, and Bob goes to the microphone, and doesn’t sing anything.”

So they [The Rolling Stones] go all the way around again and he [Dylan] just leans into the mic, and turns away. It goes on for another half a verse and then Mick’s going to come over and save the day, and then Bob finally goes to the mic and starts singing something.

“They don’t finish, and they’re [Dylan] walking off-stage before the end of the song. They’re [The ‘Stones] are like ‘Bob Dylan,’ and he turns around and he goes ‘fuck you’ and gives them the finger.
