What Pulp played during More show in Toronto as band gives B-Side deep cut its tour debut

A tour debut for one of the lesser-known songs in Pulp‘s discography was made during the band’s Toronto date.

The Jarvis Cocker-fronted group has been touring the United States and Canada following the release of their new album, More. A huge twenty-one-song set was played by the band last night (September 16), with classics from Different Class, This is Hardcore, and We Love Life featured. Also included were songs from the latest album and a deep cut track which featured on an EP release around the time of His ‘n’ Hers. Fans had been hoping the song would make a return to the stage after the band performed it in Glasgow on the kick-off show of the More tour. This marks the third time Pulp has played Seconds this year, and the second time they have played it on the More tour.

A gig at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto, Canada, was the spot for the song’s third performance this year. It had been on the setlist for a show at the Suffolk Downs, Boston, but was cut for unknown reasons. A full setlist from the Toronto show can be found below.

The show comes just a few days after a performance fans have called the “best show” Pulp has ever put on.  A slightly changed setlist was offered by the band too, with the group swapping out My Sex for another More song, Slow Jam.

The switch-up, which also featured Monday Morning on the encore, marked a slightly different set to the shows performed in Washington D.C. and Atlanta earlier this month. The show in Philadelphia featured an equally packed setlist.

The tour comes as a Different Class 30th Anniversary package was announced for release later this year. The anniversary reissue, set for release on October 24, sounds “a whole lot better” according to Cocker, with the album heard in “all its glory” on this upcoming release.

Cocker said: “This 45rpm double album version of Different Class will make it sound a whole lot better. We were obsessed with the fact that this was our ‘Pop’ album and, as everyone knows, all pop albums have 12 songs on them: 6 tracks per side.

“Only problem: this took the running time of the record to 53 minutes. We were told this would compromise the audio quality of the vinyl record – but we were more bothered about not compromising the quality of our Pop Dream. Now, 30 years later, we are finally ready for Different Class to be heard in all its glory.”
