What Pulp played during twenty-song set on More tour in Boston, with Razzmatazz making tour debut

A massive twenty-song set was performed by Pulp at Suffolk Downs in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Jarvis Cocker-fronted band performed hits from their new album, along with several deep cuts and a song which made its North American tour debut. Razzmatazz, from the band’s Intro: The Gift Recordings album, was played for the first time on the North American tour, along with Partial Eclipse from the band’s newest album, More. The setlist may come as a surprise to some, as Partial Eclipse had been played just once by the band during a BBC Radio recording. The song was absent from the band’s UK and Ireland tour, as well as their festival dates across Europe. But a show held at the Suffolk Downs in Boston marked the debut spot of the song, which followed Slow Jam.

Also featured were deep cuts like The Fear, Help the Aged, and O.U. (Gone, Gone). The setlist is relatively similar to the shows hosted in the UK and Ireland, but without an intermission. A setlist for the show can be found below.

  • Disco 2000
  • Spike Island

The show comes just a few days after a performance fans have called the “best show” Pulp has ever put on.  A slightly changed setlist was offered by the band too, with the group swapping out My Sex for another More song, Slow Jam.

The switch-up, which also featured Monday Morning on the encore, marked a slightly different set to the shows performed in Washington D.C. and Atlanta earlier this month. The show in Philadelphia featured an equally packed setlist.

The tour comes as a Different Class 30th Anniversary package was announced for release later this year. The anniversary reissue, set for release on October 24, sounds “a whole lot better” according to Cocker, with the album heard in “all its glory” on this upcoming release.

Cocker said: “This 45rpm double album version of Different Class will make it sound a whole lot better. We were obsessed with the fact that this was our ‘Pop’ album and, as everyone knows, all pop albums have 12 songs on them: 6 tracks per side.

“Only problem: this took the running time of the record to 53 minutes. We were told this would compromise the audio quality of the vinyl record – but we were more bothered about not compromising the quality of our Pop Dream. Now, 30 years later, we are finally ready for Different Class to be heard in all its glory.”

  1. Caught the show in Suffolk Downs last night. It was FABULOUS. The set was great! Jarvis and the band were in top form and the lights/video were perfect. It was worth the long wait to finally catch them after all these years!
