A show at the Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre marked the first performance of a classic song from Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts.
The band are continuing their Love Earth tour across the United States following a series of successful shows in Europe. A seventeen-song setlist included songs from Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, and Crazy Horse classics. Also included in the set was the first performance of Only Love Can Break Your Heart, a song which featured on Young’s critically acclaimed After the Gold Rush. It is the first time he and the Chrome Hearts have performed the song. Elsewhere in the set was protest song Big Crime, which was released to Young’s YouTube channel last week, with a recording from the Chicago soundcheck acting as the music video. The song, a clear denouncement of the President of the United States, was featured in Young’s performance in Colorado yesterday (September 1).
Also included in the show were classic selections like Harvest Moon, Like a Hurricane, and Old Man. A full setlist for last night’s show can be found below.

Young and The Chrome Hearts have just six shows remaining on the Love Earth tour. A date in British Columbia, Canada, is scheduled for September 6. A final performance of the tour will take place on September 15 at the Hollywood Bowl in California. Young is also set to take to the stage at Farm Aid 2025.
His shows for the remainder of the year follow on from the release of new song, Big Crime. The protest song received four out of five stars in a review from Cult Following, with the track hailed as a chance to hear “fresh protest material to tackle the toughness of modern times”.
The US tour saw Young invite President of the United States Donald Trump to any of the shows. Young wrote: “Our country and our way of life, that which our fathers and theirs fought for, is now threatened by our government. This is not what we voted for. This is our new reality. Our government is out of control, not standing for us. You can stand up for American values this summer, for our children and theirs.
“When I tour the USA this summer, if there is not martial law by then which would make it impossible, let’s all come together and stand for American values. We will not be doing a political show. We will be playing the music we love for all of us to enjoy together. President Trump, you’re invited. Come and hear our music just as you did for decades.
“Many other great musicians will be in our country this summer, there for you, playing your favourite music. We are proud to be who we are, and must never let our government forget it. Thanks, Neil.”
It appears the condition for Trump’s attendance is the US cannot be under “martial law” by the time Young heads back to the US. He will play gigs in Ireland, England, and Sweden before then.
