Bob Dylan fans hope for ‘new songs’ as Rough and Rowdy Ways tour ends

Bob Dylan fans were left wondering whether the veteran songwriter would rehearse new material in time for his summer shows.

Dylan marked the last tour of his Spring 2026 tour earlier this month, performing the likes of Man in the Long Black Coat, Love Sick, and selections from his most recent studio album, Rough and Rowdy Ways. Taking to X, one fan shared their hopes of hearing new songs at Dylan’s next show. Dylan will take a month off before returning to the stage in Troutdale, Oregon, on June 4. What the legendary performer will play is anyone’s guess, though the setlist for this Spring 2026 show hardly changed from date to date. The likes of All Along the Watchtower and Every Grain of Sand featured each night, with fans noting particularly strong performances of When I Paint My Masterpiece.

The Dylan fan took to X and asked: “Do we think a month is enough for Bob and company to work out and rehearse some new live material? Of course, I want him to relax but it would be cool to see some ‘new’ songs appear on the setlist!”

Another fan hopes to hear the same songs from night to night as they had enjoyed the setlist so much the last time around. They wrote: “I selfishly want it to stay Rough and Rowdy Ways because I never got a chance to catch any of those shows, and I wanna hear those songs live.”

The original poster replied: “Completely fair! In the broader context of his career, Rough and Rowdy Ways live shows have seemed to rank amongst his best. I only caught it at the second-to-last show – it was better than I could imagine! I hope he keeps a few in!”

A third fan believes the summer tour will be “completely different” to the shows that made up the Spring 2026 tour.

They wrote: “I’m almost completely sure that the summer tour is going to be completely different. At the very least, there won’t be any Rough and Rowdy Ways. It seems like that ship has sailed, but hopefully we see the return of some classics we haven’t seen since the 2010s.”

Dylan’s tour in Summer 2025 featured the likes of Positively 4th Street, Mr. Tambourine Man, and Masters of War, classics that he and the band had not performed in years. Whether these songs make a return to the stage is yet to be seen. A full setlist for Dylan’s most recent show can be found below.
