A long-awaited reunion for Oasis is set to take place in Cardiff, Wales, later tonight, sixteen years after their last performance.
Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher confirmed they would be performing a series of now sold-out shows across the globe this year, with the first date on the tour set for July 4. The band last performed at V Festival in 2009, with the group cancelling two further festival sets before Noel Gallagher confirmed he had quit the band. It marked the group’s final performance and an impromptu end to their on-stage legacy, which is set to be reignited later today. A nineteen-song setlist is what the band had in store for attendees of the 2009 festival, with the August 22, 2009 date marking the previous performance from Oasis.
The band’s performance was part of the Dig Out Your Soul tour, a series of performances promoting what is, so far, the band’s last studio album. Their seventh studio album featured familiar faces like Gem Archer and Andy Bell, but also brought in the likes of Zak Starkey and Jay Darlington. It peaked at number one in the UK and cracked the top five of the Billboard 200 in the United States.
Despite that, the album is not as well-remembered as music from the group’s most popular period, with Definitely Maybe and (What’s the Story) Morning Glory dominating a set which ended on a cover of The Beatles. A full setlist can be found below.
- Rock ‘n’ Roll Star
- Lyla
- The Shock of the Lightning
- Cigarettes and Alcohol
- Roll With It
- Waiting for the Rapture
- The Masterplan
- Songbird
- Slide Away
- Morning Glory
- My Big Mouth
- Half the World Away
- I’m Outta Time
- Wonderwall
- Supersonic
- Live Forever
- Don’t Look Back in Anger
- Champagne Supernova
- I Am the Walrus (The Beatles cover)
It is not known what the Gallagher brothers will perform on their first show back, though fans have written up a list of songs they believe have no chance of being performed. A post to the r/Oasis subreddit lists the songs which fans believe are definitely not going to be part of the setlist, either tonight or on later legs of the tour.
The post reads: “Put together a draft set list only consisting of songs that I think have no chance of getting played at Live ‘25. I think the highest chance is Be Here Now or Round Are Way, the absolute lowest chance is maybe Rockin’ Chair.” The full “Definitely Aren’t Getting Played” setlist can be found below.
The Shock of the Lightning featured on Oasis’ final show together, and in the setlist pieced together by fans who believe it has no chance of being performed. Some, however, believe the Gallagher brothers could have a few surprises in store for audiences and may give it a return to the stage.
One user shared: “Shock of the Lightning is definitely a real contender, one of the biggest songs off Dig Out Your Soul.” Another agreed, adding: “If this is tour is really just a celebratory lap for the band’s history, I could see them trying to pigeonhole at least 1 song per album.”
