Oasis fans horrified by ticket prices as Dublin shows sees ticket prices hit £500

Oasis fans were horrified to see ticket prices for the band’s show in Dublin, Ireland, reach highs of £500.

Noel Gallagher and Liam Gallagher‘s upcoming set of sought-after shows in the UK and Ireland are completely sold out. The high demand means desperate fans are left with little choice but to opt for wildly expensive tickets through the resale programme. A screenshot of the ticket prices for the Croke Park gig on Sunday, August 17, was posted to the r/Oasis subreddit, where fans were left disgusted by the pricing. These tickets are Official Platinum Tickets, though they are not far off the price average fans would be expected to pay for regular seats or standing admission.

The post to the Oasis subreddit reads: “Oasis in Dublin? Only 120,000 cents.” Two resale tickets available at the time of the post saw prices reach as high as €593.69. At today (June 4)’s exchange rate, that would be £500.03. Half a grand for a single ticket to see the Gallagher brothers’ first set of shows in sixteen years may feel like extortion to some, but to others it was the opportunity of a lifetime.

One fan wrote: “I’m still livid at how the Dublin sale was handled. Honestly, what idiot decided that was a good idea. I’m praying I can snag a resale ticket somehow but €200 is my max I’d consider paying.”

Another agreed, adding: “God knows why they put the tickets on sale an hour earlier than every other show. I got lucky in the presale but without that I didn’t think I would have had a chance.”

A third called the ticket sales “abysmal” for the UK shows as well. One user wrote: “It was the same for all the UK shows, absolutely abysmal how they handled it. It was one of the most anticipated reunions of recent years, they knew the demand was going to be absolutely insane and yet they handled it like they weren’t aware.

“Dynamic/platinum pricing is also extremely stupid too, why the ticket sellers are allowed to increase the costs of a £70 ticket to a £4/500 ticket because there’s demand is beyond me. It priced out so many people (including myself). I absolutely refused to pay £450 per ticket to be in the 500s when only the week prior I’d been at Wembley in the same section and it was £75.”

The tickets seen in the screenshot above are now “gone” according to the original poster. A fan replied: “Lots of people buy them. I tried getting regular-priced resale tickets and these dynamic-priced tickets come up all the time and they’re usually gone pretty soon after.”

Other Oasis fans have since admitted to forking out a small fortune on the tickets for the UK shows. One revealed: “£550 each for me and Mrs at Wembley, I’m still mad, but what else would I do.”

Some users are still hoping to pick up reasonably priced tickets, with one fan sharing they had managed to get one standing ticket for €296.43.
