Veteran actor Samuel L. Jackson has shared why he watches all of his movies soon after filming.
The star who featured in Pulp Fiction, Avengers: Assemble, and Jurassic Park confirmed he would go back and watch his movies, and says actors who don’t are “liars”. While the star has featured in so many classics he may have good reason to return to them, he says there is another reason for heading back into his filmography. In an interview given by the Academy Award nominee, Jackson confirmed everyone in the business should have the same attitude, and anyone who was not watching their films back was not in the right line of work.
He said: “We’re in this business because it’s a ‘look at me’ fucking business. If you say you don’t do that shit, you’re a liar. You’re lying to the people who watch you, even those motherfuckers that go ‘oh, I can’t watch myself on screen,’ well why the fuck should we pay $12.50 to watch your ass if you’re not gonna.
“If you can’t watch it, I damn sure don’t wanna watch it. I watch my movies. I wanna see myself.” Jackson’s veteran career has seen him work with the likes of Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, and Spike Lee, to name just a few. Early appearances in the likes of Do the Right Thing and Goodfellas soon led to high profile roles in Jurassic Park and Pulp Fiction.
The 76-year-old is one of the highest-grossing stars at the box office. Jackson appeared in five films through 2024, and is slated to feature in three more confirmed projects at time of writing.
His roles in Argylle, Damaged, The Garfield Movie, The Piano Lesson, and The Unholy Trinity, saw him appear in a series of lead and supporting roles through 2024. Jackson also appeared as Uncle Sam during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.
Fans of Jackson’s work in the Star Wars series as Mace Windu may be in luck, as the star could be set to return to the series. While there is no confirmation yet, there are talks being held to try and bring him back to the series after he constantly insisted Windu is still alive.
Jackson said: “It’s the same way I think about the dude from Jurassic Park. He’s somewhere riding around on velociraptors with one hand. he’s just on that island riding raptors.” According to Star Wars director George Lucas, Jackson has the veteran director’s blessing to return to the role and was comfortable with the idea that Windu survived the end of Revenge of the Sith.
