Fans of The Beatles are celebrating the band hitting a milestone of fifty-five songs with over one hundred million streams on Spotify.
The streaming stats for The Beatles were shared to the r/Beatles subreddit yesterday (April 16), with fans thrilled to see which songs had only just entered the one hundred million club. A post to the fan page on Reddit shared which songs had recently entered the one hundred million club, with I Am The Walrus, Nowhere Man, and When I’m Sixty Four all cracking the one hundred million mark recently. The newest entry to the list comes from the band’s soundtrack album, A Hard Day’s Night, and fans are thrilled.
Though fans were delighted to see If I Fell had just cracked the one hundred million club, other users were surprised by some of the other songs on the list. The list, which compiles the most to least streamed songs from The Beatles’ discography, threw a few surprises at fans. On the more recent songs to hit the one hundred million accolade were Revolution, I Feel Fine, and Octopus’s Garden. Included too are I Am The Walrus and Nowhere Man, songs which fans believe should have far more streams than currently listed.
One fan wrote: “For No One should be higher on this list, such a great tune.” Another agreed, adding: “For No One is so close.” A third wrote: “I feel like For No One is underrated, but just because I feel like it is a top 10 Beatles song (it’s my personal favourite), and considering that, it could be considered underrated by only being the 57th most streamed.
“I don’t think underrated has to mean unpopular, but I think it’s good that it can just mean not as popular as I think it should be.” Some have since joked For No One should be the most-streamed song from The Beatles of all. They wrote: “For No One should have one billion.”
Another added: “I’m incredibly shocked to see For No One this high up. While it’s popular within the Beatles community, I don’t think many people who don’t dive into the Beatles listen to it, whereas I would expect the opposite from Girl, When I’m Sixty-Four, Revolution and I Feel Fine.
“Not sure where I got this idea from, but I kind of expected non-die-hard fans to listen exclusively to the red and blue albums (or even One).”
While fans are curious to see why For No One is so close to the one hundred million streams club, they were just as delighted to see If I Fell had made it into the classification.
