Fontaines D.C.’s sold-out Finsbury Park show receives line-up update including Kneecap, Amyl and the Sniffers

Fontaines D.C. fans can now look forward to seeing three more big names after the band confirmed the rest of the line-up for their biggest headline show to date.

Blondshell, Been Stellar and Cardinals will join the Dublin-based five-piece in London’s Finsbury Park on Saturday, July 5, it was announced on Wednesday (April 9).

Irish hip hop trio Kneecap – who last year starred as themselves in an eponymous comedy film depicting their rise to fame – and Amyl and the Sniffers were previously confirmed as support acts.

Fontaines made their highly-anticipated comeback in August 2024 with the release of their fourth studio album Romance, featuring the lead single Starburster.

The album bagged more than double the number of first-week sales of the group’s second-most successful album, Skinty Fia, and debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart, beaten to the number one spot by Sabrina Carpenter with her Platinum album Short n’ Sweet.

And it’s easy to see why listeners adored it so much. Cult Following’s glowing review of Romance reads: “Fontaines D.C. is on the up and up. For those left wanting a little more from Skinty Fia, our prayers are answered by Romance, an outstanding new step for the Dublin-formed post-punk band. […] Romance is a place and Fontaines D.C. are discovering this for new listeners.”

Following Romance’s commercial success, Fontaines sold out two Alexandra Palace shows in November, a turning point for the quintet which solidified their new-found mass appeal.

Blondshell is the project of New York-born singer-songwriter Sabrina Teitelbaum. Now based in LA, Teitelbaum previously released pop-lea music under the name BAUM before debuting her angrier, grittier sound with the release of the 2022 single Olympus under her new name.

Been Stellar, also from New York, may feel reminiscent of Radiohead’s Iceage and The Bends, but also take inspiration from Sonic Youth and Interpol. Completing the line-up is the Cork-based quintet Cardinals, described by Rolling Stone UK as having a “scrappy DIY mantra” and combining shoegaze, Irish trad folk, rock and pop to create a unique sound.

Fontaines fans who were unable to get their hands on tickets last year had already been clamoring to bag tickets to their next North London show prior to Wednesday’s announcement.

Tickets to the Finsbury Park gig have officially sold out, with the announcement of three more big-name support acts expected to see music enthusiasts flocking to resale sites to secure their place in the crowd.
