An already busy year for Neil Young could get busier as the Glastonbury Festival headliner confirms a remastered Sleeps with Angels is on the way.
Fans are not convinced it will see the light of day, but have taken to discussing the remastered version on the r/NeilYoung subreddit. One user wrote: “We all know that nothing is a ‘sure thing’ with Neil until it’s actually released, but Neil says the next Official Releases Box set is coming soon and could be the next release coming. I know many of us have been waiting on this repress for a long time!” The announcement of a Sleeps with Angels remaster comes alongside a new album, with lead single Big Change already released.
A further announcement of documentary soundtrack album, Coastal, was made earlier this year. The archival album Oceanside Countryside was also released earlier this year. Young is set to tour Europe and the United States this summer, with Van Morrison opening for the Rockin’ in the Free World songwriter at Malahide Castle.
A question posed to Young on his website from a fan named Carson saw the songwriter share what appeared to be confirmation of a remastering plan. The question, posted to the Neil Young Archives, reads: “Hey Neil, do you have any plans on re-pressing Sleeps with Angels? It’s always been a favourite. Such a deep work of art. Can’t wait to see you back on tour.”
Young replied: “Yes Carson. It’s coming in the next Release Series box… soon… maybe next! Love Neil.”
One fan suggested Sleeps with Angels could come after all the projects currently planned by Young. They wrote: “Yeah after Oceanside Countryside, Coastal soundtrack and new album.”
We all know that nothing is a “sure thing” with Neil until it’s actually released, but Neil says next ORS box set coming soon and could be the next release coming.

Others have shared their excitement for a new Official Releases instalment, with one writing: “I’m excited for Official Releases Six. Will have a lot of my favourites on it. And Official Releases Seven will be even better! Thrashers Wheat site says it will be remastered from analog (even if original release was digital) and will include Harvest Moon, Unplugged, Angels, and Mirrorball.”
Another user replied: “I kind of wish they would add Broken Arrow instead of Harvest Moon since Harvest Moon is already easily available. I’m lucky enough to already have a copy of Broken Arrow cause that album is ridiculously overpriced on vinyl.”
A third user has suggested they will not be upgrading their copy after managing to get their hands on an original printing of Sleeps with Angels. They wrote: “Managed to grab an OG copy of Sleeps with Angels this year under one-hundred bucks. It sounds glorious, I can’t imagine an upgrade sounding even better.”
