Pulp are set to headline Tramlines Festival, bringing the band back to their hometown for the first time in two years.
Henderson’s Relish bottles gave away the headline acts of next year’s Tramlines festival in Sheffield, with fans already looking forward to the likes of The Last Dinner Party, Sigrid and Kasabian.
Pulp has selected the artists to play on their day of the festival, with their headline slot on Friday, July 25, seeing Spiritualized, Hot Chip DJ, Baxter Dury, I Monster and Oracle Sisters join the lineup of earlier acts.
The Reytons and Kasabian will headline Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27.
It comes two years after Pulp played back-to-back shows at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena, with the packed Friday and Saturday shows part of their Encore tour. Their Saturday show also included the debut of new song Hymn of the North, which is yet to receive a release.
The band are rumoured to be working on new material after frontman Jarvis Cocker was spotted at a studio in Walthamstow. Pulp has since teased Background Noise, Farmer’s Market, Got to Have Love, Spike Island and My Sex across tour dates over the last year, with most debuted at shows in the United States.
While Cocker and drummer Nick Banks initially suggested there was no new material or an album on the way, it appears there could be a change in the air for the legendary group which reformed in 2022.
Joining the band at Tramlines next year is a star-studded lineup including Prelude to Ecstasy trailblazers The Last Dinner Party and Rotherham band The Reytons. The Lathums and a reunited Rizzle Kicks are also expected to perform at the festival.
Last year’s Tramlines festival saw Paolo Nutini, Jamie T and Snow Patrol headline while The Charlatans, Yard Act, The Human League and Holly Humberstone featured elsewhere on the line-up. More acts are set to be announced for Tramlines later in the year and early next year, with the festival taking place from July 25 to July 27.
Pulp’s headline slot comes two years after the band embarked on their Encore reunion tour, where they played their first show in twelve years at Bridlington Spa. The band then went on to perform across South America before a Hogmanay show in Edinburgh to kick off 2024. They went on to perform across Europe and North America in 2024.
Fans have been clamouring for another run of UK shows from the band, and with a Tramlines headline slot confirmed, the band could be set to announce more for their UK fans.
