Wrestler Joe Hendry has his eye on the top of the charts once more after a viral push for the No. 1 spot in May.
Hendry’s effort, I Believe in Joe Hendry, fell just short of the coveted top spot and spent two weeks on the chart. Scottish wrestler Hendry, who has appeared on Total Nonstop Action Wrestling and recently WWE’s NXT is now aiming for a chart-topping spot this Christmas.
In a video posted to Twitter, Hendry, 36, revealed the plan for another viral song after the meme for his previous song took social media, and the charts, by storm. His two-week stint in the charts will be expanded with another release coming – and it’s all for a good cause.
Hendry said: “Joe Hendry needs you again. That’s because it’s nearly time to release the next big hit single. This year, we got Number Four on the UK’s big Top 40 chart but we don’t just want Number Four, we don’t just want Number One, we want Christmas Number One and why don’t we raise some money for some amazing charities at the same time?
“If you believe in that idea, like, share, let everyone know and the details of release will be coming very soon.”
TNA’s Digital World Champion has made waves in and out of the ring, with his viral song preceding a shock appearance at WWE’s NXT show. In a review of I Believe in Joe Hendry, the song was described as blurring “the line between curious listeners and confident fans.”
Though Hendry was previously beaten to the top spot by artists like Taylor Swift, who had released a multitude of song variations from The Tortured Poet’s Department, it does not seem like he is giving up on the coveted spot just yet.
Speaking back in May on his chart chances, Hendry said: “I think Taylor Swift and Hozier deserve a week off and I’m more than than happy and willing to send them off on holiday. They can have it back in a week’s time. But you know what, I think they should let Joe Hendry have that top spot for a week. Let’s make some history.”
Details of the new track are not yet released at the time of writing, but Hendry is setting his sights on chart domination once more. Hendry has also released Put On Some Clothes, with both songs available on his Spotify.
