Fans of Fontaines D.C. were left enraged by the presale for the Dopamine Chamber tour as Ticketmaster fees saw prices skyrocket. The Grian Chatten-fronted band will perform across the UK and Ireland later this year, but coming across a reasonably priced ticket appeared impossible. Fans of the Jackie Down the Line hitmakers took to social media platforms to share their disgust at the pricing of the Fontaines D.C. tour tickets.
One fan of the band took to X and wrote: “Fontaines pre-sale was an absolute shitshow. Didn’t get tickets. Joined the queue the nanosecond they went on, got to the front, selected two standing tickets, apparently they’d all disappeared. I’m hoping there’s more standing available tomorrow on general sale. The fact that the cheapest seats I could find were £90 is also so annoying.”
The fan went on to say that “£90 for the chepaest seats when that’s what I paid for my standing Oasis ticket.” Other fans were left just as frustrated by the pricing, not least because of fees added onto the base price by Ticketmaster. Another fan trying to get tickets to the band’s show at the AO Arena in Manchester wrote: “£90 for Fontaines in seats at the AO Arena surely one of the worst deals of all time.”
Service charges were a sore spot for some fans with one saying they had bagged a £60 ticket for a show on the tour, but that they were left paying more than 20% extra because of Ticketmaster fees. The fan wrote: “I’ve just paid £60 for a Fontaines ticket to then get charged £12.55 in admin fees for ‘Service Charge and Facility Charge’. Any reason why it’s over 20% of the actual ticket?”
Another added: “Sorted 4 standing tickets for Fontaines at £61 each, sound that. £49 fees! Fucking racket Ticketmaster.” A third shared: “Absolute scam isn’t it, think you’re getting a decent price for once then get slapped in the face with endless added fees.”
Some were left wondering whether a second date in London would be announced. Currently, just one date at The O2 is listed on the tour, but after the band sold out Finsbury Park last year, some are hopeful of further dates before the end of the year. One person wrote: “Has to be assumed Fontaines DC must have another London show planned surely? They literally sold out Finsbury Park; surely they can’t be doing just one O2 date.”
Another added: “You’d hope. 80k people in queue for presale, no way they ain’t planned another night, queue was fucked.” A third added: “The prices for Fontaines DC. We’ve gone crazy.” Fontaines D.C. announced the tour in support of their upcoming album, Dopamine Chamber, which releases on October 18. The band will also perform at Slaine Castle on June 26 next year.
