Bruce Springsteen setlist has fans holding their breath for changes on Land of Hope and Dreams tour

Bruce Springsteen fans believe the veteran songwriter could switch up his setlist for the final few shows of the Land of Hope and Dreams tour.

Fans are holding their breath to see whether The Boss makes some changes to his setlist for the last shows of his North American tour. Springsteen has been reluctant to change many of the songs on his setlist, but has included covers of The Clash and Bob Dylan most nights. A cover of Prince‘s Purple Rain was featured on the first night of the tour in Minneapolis and has not been featured since. Whether Springsteen and The E Street Band change up their setlist over the next week is yet to be seen, but fans remain hopeful that there could be some change at hand.

Attendees took to the r/BruceSpringsteen subreddit and shared their hopes of changes to the setlist. One fan wrote: “For the first three shows, he had Out In The Street as song eight, between The Promised Land and Hungry Heart, (which funnily enough, on the album, Hungry Heart comes right before Out In The Street, not right after).

“But then starting on show four, he traded Out In The Street for Two Hearts. Don’t get me wrong, I love Two Hearts, especially the nice It Takes Two duet with little Stevie. But I personally prefer Out in the Street. That song is just such a party live, especially the ‘woah-oh’s’ at the end!

“Also for the first three shows only, Bobby Jean was part of the encore, after Born to Run, before Dancing in the Dark. Starting with the fourth show, he dropped it, and instead added American Land to begin the encore, (before Born to Run). American Land fits perfectly the theme of the tour! I’m surprised it was missing those first three shows. But it’s a loss that Bobby Jean left the set, because that one is amazing live too.

“The last consistent change was adding Clampdown, which made its tour debut on the third show, but was missing from the April 26 show in Austin, Texas. It was in a bunch of the shows for the final third of the High Hopes tour in 2014. The one exception for this tour’s set was that in Minneapolis, he played Purple Rain. Makes sense, given that Prince is to Minneapolis what Bruce is to New Jersey.

“And for those of you asking for some of the absolute classics like Rosalita, Thunder Road, and Jungleland… listen, I’d love ’em too! But sadly, I just don’t see it happening.”

Some fans are hoping that, if anything, one song makes a return to the setlist. One fan shared: “I wish he kept Out in the Street. I wonder if Two Hearts was added back in to give Stevie some more moments in the show.”

Another agreed, adding: “That, and it’s a little more on theme for the tour, as an it it’s a bit more about bonds and community rather than waiting for the weekend.” A third wrote: “I’m sooooooo tired of Out In The Street. I’ve heard it at almost every show since what, 2009? It’s fine, but I don’t need it every night. I like Two Hearts way more and haven’t heard it nearly as often, plus it’s more on theme for this show.”
