Gorillaz Dublin setlist features surprise song as band wraps up UK and Ireland The Mountain tour dates

Gorillaz featured a surprise song in their Dublin setlist, with The Mountain tour’s first leg now finished.

The Damon Albarn-fronted group performed two shows at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland to conclude the UK and Ireland leg of the tour. Last night (April 1), the group performed a setlist featuring no debut tracks, but tonight (April 2) featured a song they have performed just twice this year. The Mountain was performed almost entirely on this tour, with hits and deep cuts from Gorillaz‘s discography also added to the setlist. The band’s performance at the 3Arena tonight marks the last UK and Ireland tour date until a show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium later this year. A North American and South American leg is scheduled for the end of the year, with European festival dates also scheduled.

Further dates, including a headline set at Primavera Sound Barcelona and Rock for People, will also take place this summer. The tour is set to conclude on December 3 in Santiago, Chile. In a five-star review of the album, Cult Following described The Mountain as a return to form for the Albarn-fronted group, who made the most of archival tapes and fresh collaborations.

The review reads: “Albarn is keen to curate, and The Mountain is the most successful example of that for him to date. From posthumous appearances which feel like worthy inclusions to the sharp writing style Albarn has brought to this round of Gorillaz songs, it’s hard to feel like The Mountain is anything but a borderline masterstroke.”
