A Saturday Club performance has been hailed as pure “brilliance” by The Rolling Stones, particularly the band member Brian Jones.
An upload of the performance to YouTube had fans praising the band and Jones’ contributions. The Rolling Stones would perform Come On live on the show, and Jones was hailed as a “second vocalist” thanks to the strengths of his harmonica playing. One fan wrote: “The brilliance of Brian on harmonica. Almost like a ‘second vocalist.’ It really wails during the bridge. Sounds like he was really enjoying himself and loving every second.” Others were thrilled by the use of a harmonica in this version of Come On, with some calling it their “favourite” version of the track. A fan wrote: “My favourite harmonica of any song I’ve ever heard, love this so much.”
While this version has inspired plenty of praise from fans, others were curious as to why other deep cuts from the band were not available on streaming services. A selection of songs from The Rolling Stones is not available on streaming services, and fans are only just figuring out why that is.
In a post to the r/RollingStones subreddit, listeners of the Mick Jagger-fronted group were trying to find where they could listen to deep cuts from the album, including Cook Cook Blues and Wish I’d Never Met You.
The deep cuts, listed off by a member of the forum, were cited as songs officially released by the band but not yet available on streaming. A fan wrote: “Why aren’t these songs available on Spotify? Cook Cook Blues, Fancyman Blues, Wish I’d Never Met You, Anyway You Look At It, Under the Radar, Don’t Wanna Go Home.
These songs have been officially released by the band, but they just aren’t on streaming. I would like to see them come to streaming, like what they did with the Voodoo Lounge era B-sides (Jump on Top of Me etc).”
Fans have since broken down why the songs are not on streaming, and where you can listen to the A Bigger Bang deep cuts and The Singles boxset hits. One fan wrote: “Under the Radar and We Don’t Wanna Go Home are fantastic, but were only on the A Bigger Bang special edition. Still not on Spotify.
“A few of my favourites thankfully did come out. Jump on Top of Me finally got added to Spotify not too long ago, along with a few other B-sides gems from the Voodoo Lounge singles. This is one of the many reasons that people like YouTube Music.
“You can upload your own music to the service and play stuff from YouTube if what you are looking for is not on Spotify. I still think it’s criminal that Paul Pena’s original version of Jet Airliner isn’t on Spotify. It destroys the Steve Miller Band version, and most people have no idea it exists.”
