A cover of Johnny Cash’s The Man Comes Around by Pulp has been used in the recent ITV drama series, The Hack.
David Tennant and Robert Carlyle star in the seven-episode drama, which used a cover of The Man Comes Around in the closing moments of its sixth episode. Viewers can just about hear Pulp’s cover of the American IV: The Man Comes Around track, which is yet to receive a standalone release. It is not yet known whether the song will be released by either the band or ITV as part of a soundtrack release for The Hack. The Jarvis Cocker-fronted group had featured The Man Comes Around on their Red Rocks setlist, though they opted not to play it. While there was some hope of Man Comes Around being a new song from the band, which released their first album in twenty-four years earlier this year, it turns out it’s a cover of a Cash classic.
While the song has not been released yet, there is no indication that the band will release any new material after More. An extra song, Open Strings, featured on the B-side of Spike Island and on Japanese editions of More.
In an interview at the Mercury Prize last month, drummer Nick Banks and keyboardist Candida Doyle confirmed there were no plans for a new album. Banks confirmed the band are “not itching” to work on a follow-up, but would conisder an EP or a single, though he did note neither are in the works.
He told the NME: “No, we’re not itching. An EP, maybe, or a single. An LP… It’s a big undertaking. You have to do all this kind of malarkey. We just di a month in America. America is sometimes a little late to the party, but they seem to be showing their appreciation.”
It seems the band has an appreciation for one of the great American songwriters too, with their cover of The Man Comes Around not yet released to the public, but featured in the Tennant-led drama series.
Pulp confirme they would be performing more shows in 2026, with the More tour headed to Australia. The band will perform in Auckland, Adelaide, and Sydney among other dates in Australia, which will mark their first shows there for fifteen years. A full list of 2026 Australian concert dates can be found below.

It has been suggested that Pulp may be winding down their reunion next year. Fans who attended a book tour Q&A with guitarist Mark Webber heard the guitarist suggesting there would be some final farewell shows in the UK next year. No further details of this are confirmed, and no UK dates from Pulp have been announced for 2026.
