Radiohead fans believe the band will “play a different set every night” after Colin Greenwood shared rehearsal plans.
The Thom Yorke-fronted group could be set to perform a massive selection from their discography is Greenwood is to be believed. A post to the r/Radiohead subreddit has seen fans share their hopes of an always-changing setlist to the twenty-show tour later this year. All shows, which will take place in Spain, Italy, England, Denmark, and Germany, are now sold out. Fans believe there’ll be few repeated songs across the Radiohead shows, as the band has rehearsed around seventy tracks. One person asked: “Do you guys think they will use the same set each night? Just wonder how much variation, if at all, we will see between say, night one and three in London.”
Fans believe there will be plenty of time to change the setlist from show to show. One person suggested: “100% no. They are rehearsing 70 songs and never play the same set two nights running (if ever). Radiohead are one of the greatest bands for rehearsing a LOT of songs prior to a tour and mixing up their sets and ensuring everyone gets a unique show – and often the odd surprise.
“Just check out setlist.fm and browse some of the sets on their last tour. There were a few constants from AMSP because they were touring that album – but I think I’m right that they rehearsed over 100 for that tour. This time there’s no record to promote – so the setlist is anyone’s guess. Praying they road test some new material though.”
Fans who attended Radiohead’s previous tours shared the group may have two alternating setlists. They wrote: “On longer tours, they tend to have an A and B setlist. They will both contain about 10-12 of the same songs, another 8-10 will vary between night A and B, then another 5 will be randomly cycled in. Sometimes they’ll put options on the setlist (ie The Bends/Planet Telex) and choose based on the vibe of the night.”
A third added: “Like others said, no, they will mix it up. There will be repeats across nights, and some of the structure among sets will be similar (general song order with certain openers).
“But they will make substitutions between nights, and no two shows will match. Some nights will probably get a special bust out or deeper cuts. It really adds an extra element because it feels like a lot is possible. They played sixty-four songs from 2016 to 2018 on the AMSP tours, so a seventy-song pool for this tour feels like a deep pool to draw from.”
Another agreed, sharing: “They’ve always had quite a bit variation, I imagine there’ll be some surprises and a lot of songs on rotation.”
