What Bob Dylan played on second Outlaw Music Festival date of September

A nearly unchanged set was offered up by Bob Dylan on the Outlaw Music Festival date in Hartford, Connecticut.

The veteran songwriter made just one change to his seventeen-song setlist, with the return of Early Roman Kings. His Tempest blues song returned to the setlist after being dropped in favour of Gotta Serve Somebody on the September 5 date in Bangor, Maine. A few minor details were noted on the setlist also, with Dylan performing a harmonica solo during the band’s rendition of To Ramona. Also included were a handful of cover songs, which have remained unchanged for most of the shows on the Outlaw Music Festival tour. Dylan will wrap up his dates on the Willie Nelson-headlining tour later this month and return to the Rough and Rowdy Ways shows.

Those shows will take place across Europe, starting in Helsinki, Finland and ending in Dublin, Ireland. Dylan still has a few dates left on the Outlaw Music Festival tour, and may keep his setlist somewhat the same for the remainder of these shows.

Masters of War maintained its spot as the opening song, while Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right has been a reliable show closer. A setlist of Dylan’s show in Hartford, Connecticut, can be found below.

  • Masters of War
  • I Can Tell (Bo Diddley cover)

Dylan has just six shows left on the Outlaw Music Festival tour, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary. The shows have given Dylan the chance to play some of his biggest hits, with songs like Mr. Tambourine Man and Positively 4th Street featuring.

Masters of War also made a return to the stage for the first time in nine years and has remained a setlist opener for the veteran songwriter. Masters of War served as the opening song to Dylan’s Outlaw Music Festival tour slot at the Darien Centre in New York. The rest of the setlist remains relatively similar to previous performances, though Dylan has been slowly changing a handful of songs. The veteran songwriter has played several of his biggest and best songs on this tour, with some being performed for the first time in over a decade.

Masters of War featured as the first song of the night, replacing the equally rare Positively 4th Street, a song Dylan had only performed five times in fifteen years before its return to the setlist. Positively 4th Street also featured in the setlist in Buffalo.
