Arctic Monkeys’ cover of a Beatles classic has fans hoping the song receives an official release.
While it may be unlikely to hear The Beatles cover released by the Alex Turner-fronted band, a live version has been made available. A YouTube upload of Arctic Monkeys’ cover of All My Loving has delighted listeners, racking up millions of views over the last decade. At a performance in Madison Square Garden, New York, Arctic Monkeys performed the With the Beatles hit for a packed crowd. Joined by Miles Kane for the performance, the Turner-fronted group’s version of All My Loving has been praised by members of the public as an outstanding cover.
One fan of the cover has noted the strangeness of hearing a live rendition of a song by the Fab Four without a “screaming” crowd. They wrote: “It’s weird hearing a Beatles song performed live without constant screaming.” Another joked that Turner sounded somewhat “like a British Elvis Presley.”
A third wrote: “The only band I trust to do justice to the original song.” Arctic Monkeys’ cover sat well with everyone, with the “modern version” of All My Loving still surprising listeners to this day. The performance, given in 2014, was thankfully recorded and shared by a fan who captured the With the Beatles cover.
One listener shared: “This is my grandfather’s favourite song. Now I hear a modern style version of it, and it makes me think of all those deep sensations someone made him feel many years ago.
Another added: “Just when I thought my favourite song from The Beatles couldn’t get any better, I find this…” A third wrote: “I was suspicious about this because The Beatles are The Beatles and no one could surpass them, but this version is pretty good.”
Though unlikely, some are hoping for a studio version of All My Loving by Arctic Monkeys. One fan shared: “I need a studio version of this!” Turner had reportedly told audiences to record their live version, with one user loving the “more accessible” way of sharing the song.
They wrote: “Haha. I love how Alex actually encouraged people to upload it. It would be way more accessible that way.” Another listener added: “Would totally buy an album of them doing just Beatles covers. Also, Jake Bugg doing Beatles covers would be great too.”
A third suggested the cover is even better than the original, with Turner’s voice hailed as “perfect” for the song. One fan shared: “I’m a huge Beatles fan and I absolutely love the original All My Loving, but honestly, I think I love this version better.
