What Bob Dylan played at Outlaw Music Festival date in Syracuse, New York

A gig in Syracuse, New York, for Bob Dylan had him open his Outlaw Music Festival show with Masters of War for a third time.

The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan song made a sudden return to the stage earlier this month. Dylan had not performed the song since 2016, though he opened his show at the Darien Centre in New York with the protest classic. His show in Syracuse was no different, with last night (July 10) marking the third time he had used the song as an opener. It replaces Positively 4th Street as the first song of the night, with his hit single dropped from the show in favour of Blind Willie McTell.

Dylan has made more than a few changes to his setlist over the last few months, with the Outlaw Music Festival crowds hearing performances of Mr. Tambourine Man, The Times They Are A-Changin’, and Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35 for the first time in years. A full setlist from the Syracuse show can be found below.

Speculation over a new album from Dylan has been sparked after a press release from White Lake Studios in Albany, New York, confirmed the Bringing It All Back Home hitmaker had been in the studio with his band.

David Bourgeois, CEO of White Lake Studios, said: “We want every artist and guest to feel relaxed and at home. We’ve had the privilege of working with many remarkable talents over the years, but this visit was truly special. I’m incredibly proud of our team.” Details of the visit were not shared, though a press release confirming the studio time was issued.

It reads: “Legendary music icon Bob Dylan, along with members of his band, spent two days this week at White Lake Studios in Colonie, New York. The studio team had been preparing for the visit in advance and worked diligently to ensure discretion and privacy throughout the sessions.”

Dylan had performed a show at Gilford just two days before his studio sessions, performing hits like Positively 4th Street and Highway 61 Revisited. A full setlist can be found below for his August 3 show.
