Oasis’ song Live Forever has been crowned the “Greatest British Song of All Time” by Radio X listeners.
The Gallagher brothers beat out The Beatles, Pulp, Sam Fender, and Arctic Monkeys to take the top spot on the online list, which was voted on by the public. It is not the first time Live Forever has been crowned the “Greatest British Song of All Time” by Radio X listeners, though some new appearances on the list were confirmed. Sam Fender’s People Watching broke onto the list, while The Rolling Stones‘ Gimme Shelter moved up to sixth place. Four Oasis songs were voted into the Top Ten, including Don’t Look Back in Anger, Slide Away, and Champagne Supernova. The group are set to tour the UK later this year, following a controversial dynamic pricing ticket sale, which has since sold out.
Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen takes second place while Slide Away from Oasis is third. Matt Deverson, Managing Editor of Radio X, said: “Live Forever had to be number one, didn’t it? And with Oasis dominating the 100 with 16 songs in the list, it reflects the growing excitement among Radio X listeners for what will be the biggest music and cultural moment of the year, from the biggest band in the world right now!”
Some fans are still trying to get tickets to Oasis shows later this year, with resale tickets hitting prices as high as £563 for one seat on Ticketmaster. A full list of the Radio X Top 100 can be found below.
