The Beach Boys’ Al Jardine confirms summer tour with second solo album seemingly pushed back

The Beach Boys’ Al Jardine has confirmed he will be on tour across the United States this summer with The Pet Sounds Band.

A series of tour dates was confirmed by the legendary musician, who will kick off the tour on July 4. The show’s advertising suggests a series of fan favourites and “deep cuts” from The Beach Boys‘ discography will be played. The tour date announcement comes as Jardine misses the deadline he set for releasing new material. In an interview last year, around the time the songwriter released Wish, he said he hoped to “get a vinyl out for Record Store Day.” No such release was announced, though there is still hope of Jardine releasing some of the “unfinished tunes that are pretty close to being done,” as he told Rolling Stone Magazine.

Confirmation of the tour can be found on Al Jardine’s website, where tickets can also be purchased. A description for the tour reads: “Al Jardine has just reformed the incredibly-talented and seasoned members of Brian Wilson’s touring band for many years as The Pet Sounds Band. In addition to performing the classic hits, Al Jardine and The Pet Sounds Band will be performing radio singles and fan favourites from The Beach Boys’ critically-acclaimed 70’s albums like 15 Big Ones, The Beach Boys Love You and the M.I.U. Album, which was produced by Al in 1978.

“In addition to vocalist/percussionist Matt Jardine, who has toured with Al, Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys for decades, the Pet Sounds Band is likely to include keyboardist Darian Sahanaja, drummer Michael D’Amico, bassist Bob Lizik, pianist Gary Griffin, guitarist Rob Bonfiglio, horn player Paul Von Mertens, and keyboardist Debbie Shair.”

A list of announced concert dates can be found below. Tickets can be purchased here.

  • July 4 – Mystic Ampitheater, Prior Lake
  • July 18 – South Shore music Circus, Cohasset
  • July 20 – Rivera Theater, North Tonawanda
  • August 23 – Des Plaines Theater, Des Plaines
  • August 24 – Arcada Theatre, St Charles

Jardine’s tour announcement comes as The Beach Boys, fronted by Mike Love, are set to play Reading in the UK later this year. Tickets for the show are still available.

The Pet Sounds Band, formerly The Brian Wilson Band, are set to join Jardine on the road for this summer tour. Jardine last performed in March of this year for the Let’s Get L.Aid benefit. He performed California Girls, Help Me, Rhonda with Weird Al Yankovic, and Surfin’ U.S.A.
