Pink Floyd fans have praised the band for hitting one billion Spotify streams on one song for the first time.
While the band has plenty of popular tracks including Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here close to the one billion mark, it appears just one of Pink Floyd’s efforts has so far hit the milestone. Fans of the band took to the r/PinkFloyd subreddit and shared the streaming achievement, which they say is well deserved for the song in question. One user screenshot The Wall track and wrote: “The first billion on Spotify.” Users were delighted by the first billion for Pink Floyd on the streaming service, and one says it “greatly deserves” to be among the most played songs from the band.
One user wrote: “Greatly deserves to be in the one billion club, considering it was sadly their only No 1. in the US (correct me if wrong).” Another fan wrote: “One of the songs that deserves that title in my opinion.” A third added: “Not surprised it’s pretty much the most catchy songs they ever did and the lyrics speak to disaffected teenagers who hate the education system.. so pretty much every kid. Hell, I was introduced to Pink Floyd through it. A cover version, but still.”
Other users agreed that Another Brick in the Wall appealed to teens, but adults would also find it as inspiring as they did on The Wall‘s first release. One wrote: “For sure, that interpretation makes the song appealing to teens.
“And as an adult now it’s still appealing because I hear it as a reminder to question any authoritarian conformist oppressive institution that suppresses individuality and wants us to just be another number in their machine. Which is so poignant and prescient today. Same as it ever was. With that said, I’m about to hit play and make it 1,000,212,314.”
Fans of the band also pointed out remastered and live tracks were not included in the count, and just this version of the song had hit one billion streams.
They wrote: “I think it’s great they finally have a one billion streaming song, but in all honesty, they should have two by now. Wish You Were Here has 812.5 million streams, and the 2015 remaster of the same song has 219.8 million streams. Combined, that would put it over 1.032 billion streams.”
Another user added: “I don’t buy it, I thought they had at least five songs with a billion streams. People have poor taste.” A third added: “There are two versions of Wish You Were Here available on Spotify and if you add their streams together it’s comes to 1,030,000,000 streams.”

My introduction to Pink Floyd was some of theit first albums, Ummagumma and Saucer full of Secrets. Strange yet somehow satisfying. Their later albums were much more commercially accepted by the industry and the listeners. The early stuff was them finding their way and experimental. I still love them!
Ya….no
That song is redundant and played out! Comfortably Numb….Goodbye Blue Sky….even One of My Turns and Hey You are far superior songs… musically and lyrically
I skip Another Brick in the Wall part 2 every time it comes on.
I adore Pink Floyd every other song I love deeply….that one song to me is atrocious and beyond played out and the numbers just show why there are warning labels on shampoo
You Better Run, one of my first ‘sing along with the car tape’ favorites from The Ŵall. Sends a heart pounding rush through my brain, svsn now, 48 yrs since I first heard the album. Also, Bob Geldorf was brilliant in The Wall movie.
