Bruce Springsteen fans are hoping for a cameo appearance from Paul McCartney at The Boss’ Anfield date.
Springsteen’s tour will hit the UK later this year, with performances in Manchester and Liverpool confirmed. Fans of the legendary singer-songwriter are hoping for an appearance from The Beatles and Wings frontman McCartney, with a gig in his hometown inspiring some hope. A post to r/BruceSpringsteen saw fans discuss the possibilities of a McCartney appearance at the show. One fan asked: “Chances of Paul McCartney appearing at Liverpool? We’re getting closer and closer to the 2025 tour and I’ve been thinking about possible surprises.
“Paul McCartney appearing at Liverpool seems possible, dare I say even likely? First time in Liverpool for Bruce. Paul is just off the back of a successful tour and still going strong. They’ve been on stage a fair few times together, most recently and arguably most notably at Paul’s Glastonbury set. Would be a cool surprise!”
While some fans are keeping their hopes high for an on-stage collaboration between The Boss and McCartney, some were more realistic in their expectations. One user wrote: “Anything’s possible but… remember that Paul doesn’t live anywhere near Liverpool.”
Another wrote: “I’m coming down from Glasgow to Liverpool for it, so that’d be unreal. Some would say groovy. Bruce usually ends his shows with Twist and Shout, too.” A third added: “I saw them together at Hyde Park. Once was enough.”

Some say the performance between the two would “totally make sense,” but only if McCartney is nearby. They wrote: “Totally makes sense if he is in town or nearby and can jet on over. Seems very possible.”
Whether McCartney appears at the Anfield show on Springsteen’s tour is yet to be seen, but fans remain hopeful after previous on-stage performances featuring the two. McCartney’s Glastonbury festival headline slot in 2022 saw both Springsteen and Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl appear for performances.
McCartney had special guests of his own on a recent tour of the UK, with his Got Back tour in London featuring fellow Beatles legend Ringo Starr as well as The Rolling Stones’ Ronnie Wood.
