Fans of The Rolling Stones are “surprised the band is still going” after a rumoured UK tour was cancelled.
The band had reportedly been set to perform shows in the UK for the first time since 2022, but plans have fallen through for their European tour. It was reported the group had snubbed offers to return to touring later this year, with a stop-off at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium allegedly rejected along with other shows across Europe. But fans of the band are surprised the tour was even tabled with the legendary rock group, with some saying their final tour may already have passed. The Rolling Stones’ most recent show saw the band play a twenty-song set at the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena in Missouri, in support of their Hackney Diamonds album.
A post to r/TheRollingStones’ subreddit saw fans share their surprise at a potential tour, with dates allegedly set for 2026, according to NME. One fan taking to the Reddit page for fans of the band wrote: “Anyone here really surprised that the Stones are still going with Jagger and Richards now both past the age of 81?
“Would you have believed this would be happening if you were told this back in the 1980s? Here’s hoping they are still going when they’re in their 90s! It’s simply amazing! I can’t think of any other band where the two main guys are over 80. I hope they are going for a good while yet!”
Fans of the band are hoping to hear The Rolling Stones continue after labelling their recent release, Hackney Diamonds, a “killer album.” One user wrote: “Also, that the last album is damn good. Like it’s not just passable, it’s a killer record.” Another added: “One of the best things they’ve done in 50 years. Surprisingly excellent.” Other users are not surprised the band wants to continue touring.
Some recalled their experiences with previous tours from The Rolling Stones and pointed out many had felt like a potential end to the band. One user wrote: “Saw them on the Steel Wheels tour in ’88 with this exact sentiment.” Another added: “I said the same thing for the Voodoo Lounge tour in ’94. I mean they looked old then. What can I say, I take a bow to them.”

A third wrote: “I was talking to my Mom about seeing them last year and I was saying ‘this is probably the last chance’ and she said ‘I thought the same thing in ’98 when I saw them last’.” Some say it is up to Jagger as and when The ‘Stones tour, and say the band are still “legitimately great”.
One wrote: “It’s crazy. When I saw them on tour last year they were legitimately great. Keith was playing with a renewed passion too — I think Steve Jordan has given him a real jolt of energy.” Another says the band will follow in the footsteps of their idols and continue touring well into their 80s.
They wrote: “No, look at a few of their idols— BB King, John Lee Hooker, Chuck Berry (surely others) were playing and touring well into their ‘80s until they couldn’t any longer. I always expected the same for Mick and Keith.”

My first Stones show was Nov 26, 1964 in Detroit, USA. No I am not surprised that they still work at their jobs. 45 shows for over the whole time.
