A Pink Floyd fan has shared how listening to The Dark Side of the Moon marked a “life-changing” moment for them.
A post to the r/PinkFloyd subreddit saw a user share their experience with the album, which they described as a “mind-boggling” moment. Fans of the band went on to share further releases from the band and welcomed the newest listener to the fandom. The original poster wrote: “I listened to The Dark Side of the Moon while high for the first time and it was genuinely life-changing. Was up in Michigan with some friends for a football game, they both have been smoking/taking edibles for a while and offered to let me try one.
“Took a 20mg and after about an hour we went to bed. I threw on The Dark Side of the Moon with noise-cancelling headphones and it was incredible. I could literally feel the music coursing through my body and see the colours of every note. Truly can’t explain how mind-boggling it was that this beloved album cold be even more spectacular than I already thought it was.”
Fans of the band were quick to welcome the listener into the subreddit and shared their experiences with the album. One user wrote: “Thank you for sharing, fellow Floyd head. Now check out Echoes: Live at Pompeii and your ascension will be complete!” Another wrote: “Fuck yeah dude. Welcome to the machine.”
A third wrote: “Truly a great album. The best part is now every time you hear it, you can draw on that experience and it is like you get to re-live the moment in your head.” Another agreed, adding: “With a great set of headphones, listening to The Dark Side of the Moon, nothing better…”
Recalling a similar Pink Floyd trip, one user wrote: “I’ll never forget tripping BALLS in the campground of Deer Creek during the Phish 2004 run. It was on the border between an uncomfortable and a bad trip but I decided to sit in my convertible jeep and put on Meddle.

“Echoes took me places as I stared up at the stars, places I can still recall when I listen to that masterpiece, but it brought me down from the edge but also allowed me to touch that great mystery of humanity, the eternal answer that men have sought for millennia, I was ALMOST there!”
Another replied: “My first experience with every Pink Floyd album from Meddle through The Wall was with more than a few caps, and I cannot express how incredible those experiences were. I haven’t listened to any other albums yet, but I will next time. I imagine the peak has already passed me by, but the comedown is always fun too.”
Other users suggested the original poster do the same with other Pink Floyd albums. One suggested: “Now do the same with Animals and Wish You Were Here.” Another wrote: “Meddle is just unbelievably beautiful. Animals is life altering. I have Dogs in my head right now. Piper At the Gates of Dawn, though vastly different, reminds me of my childhood and I love the whole album. Not to mention I think it’s the best name for an album, ever.”

Interstellar Overdrive might be the best single track to play through good headphones. The peak of it all feels like it’s literally shooting through your brain from one ear to the other.
