Bruce Springsteen fans have called two of his lesser-loved songs “up there with Born to Run.”
The Boss’ discography is filled with classics and deep cuts from a career that has spanned several decades, and his 1992 album, Human Touch, has been praised by those still listening to his ninth studio album. Lucky Town, too, which released the same year, was praised for being an underrated piece from Springsteen, and fans are now trying to figure out whether the songs on both of those albums are up there with his “greats”. One user asked the r/BruceSpringsteen Reddit community: “Am I the only one who loves Human Touch and Lucky Town?
“The guitar work on the Human Touch album and Lucky Town up with the greats like Darkness on the Edge of Town and Born to Run.” Other users appear to be as infatuated with Human Touch as the original poster, with one fan of The Boss saying the title song is in their top ten. They wrote: “I like the songs better on Lucky Town as a whole, but the song Human Touch is in my top 10.”
Another user replied: “Agreed! I just listened to these albums for the first time a couple weeks ago. Then bought Human Touch single and Lucky Town album on vinyl.” A third says that while the album may feature one of their favourite songs, it is clear to see why it is not a favourite of more passing fans.
They wrote: “Human Touch features some of my favourite songs from him (the title track, Soul Driver, I Wish I Were Blind) but a lot of the other songs are kinda generic and forgettable for Springsteen’s standards. Also, I think the production hurts a lot of the tracks as well. I said Soul Driver was one of my favorites but I’m really talking about his live performances. Especially its debut at The Shrine, Los Angeles.

“The studio version is completely bastardized and while I think it’s still a good song, the live performance blows it out of the water. Lucky Town is a great album through and through though. Just some of his best songs in my opinion and it fixes a lot of the problems Human Touch had. It’s such a funny experience listening to Human Touch and thinking ‘there’s something missing and I can’t put my finger on it’ and then putting on Lucky Town and having it click that it’s got whatever Human Touch didn’t.”
Other users have suggested pairing Lucky Town and Human Touch would have made for a “great” single album, but Springsteen released both in the same year as two separate projects. One user wrote: “Would have made a good single album…” Another added: “Between Human Touch, Lucky Town and the songs on Tracks is a very strong Bruce single album. I see it as a missed opportunity.”
A third summarised the albums place in history and said neither would be his best, but both were solid releases. They wrote: “For me, they won’t ever be ‘up with the greats’, but what I will say as someone who remembers being vaguely disappointed in these albums when they were released because they weren’t E Street Band records is that, for me, these albums have aged well. I appreciate them more now than I did then.”

Definitely two great albums , just below his classic releases , I own both. The only thing missing was The E Street Band , but the albums still sound great !
The album of Bruce’s that competes with Norn to Run is the 2nd album and in some ways I prefer it to B to Run is the Wild ,the willing and E Street Shuffle
These were 2 good Bruce albums but if he would have combined the best of both it would have been one of his finest albums.These albums were released on the very same day which was unheard of for an artist to do..I was waiting at a Record Bar that morning to make my purchase.I actually recorded the best from both making my own disk and called it “Lucky Touch”
