Twin Peaks actor Carel Struycken’s home destroyed in California wildfires as GoFundMe set up to support family

A GoFundMe has been established for veteran actor Carel Struycken after he and his family’s home was destroyed in the California wildfires.

Struycken, best known for his roles in Twin Peaks and The Addams Family movies, had lived in his Altadena home for twelve years. He and wife Tracey have since been evacuated and are said to have “lost everything” to the Eaton fire. Michael Anspach, Struycken’s son-in-law, has since shared a GoFundMe page to help the family through their tragic loss.

A post on the fundraiser page, which can be found here, reads: “On the evening of Tuesday, January 7, 2025, my in-laws looked outside to see flames coming over the ridge near their Altadena, CA home. They quickly grabbed a few essential items and fled. The following day, their fears were confirmed: their home of 12+ years had been destroyed by the Eaton Fire.

“Many of you know my father-in-law, Carel, from his acting roles in Twin Peaks, The Addams Family, Star Trek: TNG, Men In Black, and many other titles. He’s also a skilled photographer and digital image editor. My mother-in-law, Tracey, is a dedicated family medicine doctor who works extremely hard. She’s a model mom and grandmother.”

Thankfully the pair escaped the blaze but their belongings have since been destroyed. Anspach says Struycken has yet to return to the property and assess the damages. The fundraiser post continues: “We’re so very thankful they were able to safely escape the oncoming blaze, but like so many others, they lost everything to the Eaton Fire. Please keep Carel, Tracey, and all those affected by the fires in your thoughts and prayers.

“All funds will be used by Carel & Tracey as they seek to recover from this tragedy and begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

“For the record: I’m Mike and I live in Arizona. I’ve been married to Carel & Tracey’s daughter for 11 wonderful years and I’ve known them for more than 22. We live in Arizona but had been visiting Altadena just three days before the Eaton Fire began.”
An update to the fundraiser from Anspach showed the “house and garage are a total loss” with the LA County providing photos of the property. He added: “Tracey and Carel still haven’t been allowed to see the destruction for themselves.”
It comes as The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson was evacuated from his home, along with his family and his pets, on January 7. A statement from his management confirmed the Pet Sounds legend had been safely moved from his home.
Their statement reads: “Brian, his family and pets evacuated their home last Wednesday. Their hearts go out to everyone affected by the tragic Los Angeles fires. They want to thank the Los Angeles Fire Department and the other fire departments who have come from all over to help. They also want to send love to the selfless volunteers who jumped in to help and the amazing outpouring of support for the community.”
