Teary-eyed Electric Light Orchestra fans praise ‘best show ever’ as Jeff Lynne concludes Over and Out US leg

Electric Light Orchestra fans have praised the band for their “best show ever” following the end of the Over and Out US leg.

Those who attended the ELO gigs in North America were pleasantly surprised by Jeff Lynne’s farewell performances, with the 76-year-old confirming these would be the last shows the band play. The band will play their last-ever show at Hyde Park in London next year, and US-based fans were full of praise for the band following the conclusion of the Over and Out Stateside tour.

A post to the Electric Light Orchestra subreddit was full of praise for Lynne and the band as user yojimbo2095 revealed it was the “best concert I’ve ever been to”. They wrote: “I got teary-eyed at the end and couldn’t believe this was the end. Probably the best concert I’ve ever been to.”

The Phoenix show in question was praised by others in the comments who said it was well worth the wait and nothing but excellent for fans of the band. One user wrote: “Fantastic show! Was worth waiting for! I wish only blessings for Jeff Lynne.” Another added: “What a great show it was tonight!”

Fellow concert-goers have since weighed in with their experiences of tour dates prior to the Phoenix show, with one fan who attended ELO’s Los Angeles gig saying they may go to Europe to relive the show. “Glad you had fun,” they wrote. “It definitely was one of the best concerts I went to when I saw them in LA and I now have that itch to go see them in Europe cause they were so damn good.”

Those waiting to catch Electric Light Orchestra at one of their Birmingham, Manchester or London shows have plenty to look forward to according to those who were present for Lynne’s gigs in the United States. One wrote: “The Dallas show was phenomenal! 20,000+ ecstatic fans singing their hearts out. I still have the songs stuck in my head.”

Another fan revealed they were left with tears in their eyes too and moved by the presence of the Mr. Blue Sky hitmakers, revealing: “I may have had a tear or two in my eyes also….. Don’t Bring me Down was awesome when the whole place was singing loudly and dancing away.”

Some were a little less impressed with the crowd, however, and suggested the second date they attended was like a “karaoke” event. They wrote: “Was lucky enough to see back-to-back nights, and one night was so different crowd-wise.

“Night Two was the farther seat, but the crowd more than made up for it with the energy and the sing-alongs I usually Hate it but I swear to God it was like karaoke with 15,000 people.”

Praise for the tour comes amid criticism over the use of artificial intelligence for the backdrops and imagery used in the performance.

Unbelievable concert memories. The first time I saw the band was in the ‘70’s Cleveland World Series of Rock. Cleveland Municipal Stadium 90,000 fans the ticket cost for ELO and other iconic bands was $20.

  3. Saw them both nights in Chicago, one review called the show a sonic feast and that is exactly what it was. I hope Jeff adds a few more shows in the US before going to Europe. I’d travel almost anywhere in the US for one more time.
