Anton Newcombe of Brian Jonestown Massacre and Dot Allison have announced a collaboration album, Parallel.
Under the moniker All Seeing Dolls, the pair will release their collaborative effort in February 2025. Lead single That’s Amazing Grace has been shared ahead of the album’s full release.
On working with Anton Newcombe, Dot Allison said: “Anton and I bonded over a love of early Opal recordings. He had reached out to say: ‘If you like that music, I am your man,’ and I said: ‘I do.’ And we began chatting. For weeks we spoke about all things life, science, the nature of reality, love, family and music. We swapped songs we liked, and chatted about artists and found we got on well and from then we decided to swap musical ideas.
“I would send something I had recorded on either guitar, uke, piano, autoharp and voice and he would send over his ideas also, which I absolutely loved and we collaborated in our separate studios. There was nothing he ever sent back that I wasn’t happy with, so I guess we developed that trust where we are on the same page and so it works and flows easily. We met for the first time in Edinburgh after we had written together so it was in some ways like a reunion, rather than a first meeting in a way.”
Parallel will be the first collaboration between the pair and is set to release around the same time The Brian Jonestown Massacre embark on their UK and Europe tour. A tracklist for Parallel can be found below.
